Can someone please explain to me, in a detailed mannor how to hook up a relay harness to HIDs for a 2006 Mazda3 GT sedan please? I hooked up the headlights just fine but the DRL's flicker...I'm assuming running the relay will stop that, but will I still be able to use my auto lighting feature with it hooked up?
Thanks

Actually you need capacitators to stop the flickering... and yes you can keep the auto feature.
yearoftherat wrote up a great explanation/tutorial here: :)

Never really understood why you need a capacitor and a relay harness
But the questions you have to ask yourself is if you really want to have your HIDs on at all times or just at night.
There is the INDY fog mod which makes your fogs independant so that you can use those as your DRLs.
Also there is the DRL to highbeam/fog mod aswell which keeps the DRL but redirects it to the fogs or the highbeams.

A capacitor is needed if you want to run your HID's as DRL's. My tutorial/ instructions explains it.

Why not just run a Bosch relay like this
85 = ground
86 = signal from your lowbeam harness
87 = power to HIDs
30 = power from battery
87a = blank
To me i think this is less time consuming
I was refering to why you need a capacitor AND a relay harness, i know the capacitor fixes the flickering

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Both of those write-ups are very helpful now the only problem is getting my hands on a cap. Does anyone have on I can buy/know where do get one?
As for running the Indy fog mod...I'm not willing to splice my wires.

Ahh, ok. All I know is that the relay is built into the harness and the only reason I use the harness is the stock wiring will not handle the extra power it takes to ignite the HID when you first turn them on.

You're only splicing one wire.

That might not be a bad idea in that case...but what happens if I go with HID fogs? If the cap will solve the issue and let me run HID DRLs, I'm fine with that. Now I just have to find a reasonably priced one.
