17" EKM3s on Mazdaspeed3

Yea, I know. But I'm looking at the EKM3s and thinking I might actually go 17". The roads here in North bay are terrible and I'm thinking an extra inch of rubber would probably be best.

I read somewhere awhile back that that the EKM3s actually look one inch bigger (face?) than they really are because of the extended lip or something?

Is it really worth going 17s over the 18s? Wheels are cheaper, rubber is cheaper, ride is softer?

I have the 17" ekm3 in gunmetal, I chose the 17 inch because people say it has a 18" face and it is a relatively heavy rim, so 18" would be more heavy... lol

They look like 17", they do look good but I would not think they look bigger than what they are.
