I just got a Mazda 3 Sport GS and want to put a sub in it. I have a 10" sub already and was looking at a sub box that is 15" H x 19" W x 7-1/4" D. I was thinking about removing the spare tire and putting the box under the cardboard floor. (or whatever that cover is made of)
Anyone done this? Is it a feasible idea? I just don't want to give up any space in the hatch. Golf clubs, hockey bag and sticks... not a lot of room with a sub box taking up space.
No idea about the amp. The amp is small. Might fit in there too or I'll see about mounting it under the passenger seat. I did that in my 86 'vette. (it was a chevette :chuckle)
Any feedback would be great.

JL makes a stealth box that goes where the spare tire is.

On the 2010 Hatch, if you went with the Bose package you would have gotten an OEM sub that is built into the spare tire. I've seen a couple of people who have created their own boxes off this OEM design and it looks pretty good.
There are also people who have created a sub enclosure that fits into the side jack location panel. Not sure what sized sub they could fit in there though.

Sorry... should have stated that I didn't get the BOSE package. Have the hatch though.
An enclosure that fits in the tire would be sweet. I'm not looking for bass to make my chest move. Those days are over for me. The stock speakers just need a little more kick.

If I had some extra cash right now, I would be pre-ordering this sub-enclosure. It looks pretty impressive for a stealth box.

If you want something local, I think it was Jeff from AudioHeaven that was talking about creating a stealthbox for the 2010 hatch. Maybe get in contact with him and see if he can come up with something.
