The leds don't have ballasts, maybe you're thinking of the CCFL ballasts? The CCFL rings and ballasts are definitely unreliable.

Let us know how these turn out. They do look promising but I've dealt with Umnitza in the past and I didn't have such a good experience with their customer service or product.

They won't draw much power at all since they LEDs.

They are LEDs, so they don't draw much compared to CCFLs. If you want you can hang them directly off of the parking lights -- you won't need a relay.

BTW, the "fancy" relay harness they sell is a waste of money... you can get the same funtionality from a $5 HID relay harness. Umnitza's relay harness has an extra wire connected to the NC relay contact... on some cars it can be used to turn the halos on/off with the interior lights -- powering them from the interior light circuit. Adding the addtional wire toa $5 relay would be dead simple... but there is no point on our cars as the interior lights have a switched ground and the Umnitza halo's use a +ve supply.

When you install them make sure you seal up the power-regulator modules better. The modules are bascially circuit boards with a large piece of shrink-wrap tubing over them. The ends are left open, so any under-hood moisture (including winter salt-mist) is going to get to the circuit boards.

So pack the ends with silicone, or, better yet, put them inside the headlight enclosures where they are protected from the world.

leds are low voltage, you can leave them on all night if you want and you should be fine.

So i got my leds on Friday. But i notice that an eBay seller was selling the exact same item. For less with an extra led ring ( http://cgi.ebay.ca/x270-UHP-LED-HALO-2004-2008-Mazda3-ANGEL-x6-RINGS-CCFL-/170521991977?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b3e71b29 ) And on Umnitza`s power-regulator modules theirs an extra connection where nothing connects to. on the eBay one a third ring connects to it. This is what umnitza has to say about it "The product on the eBay advert is a knock-off and we’ve been fighting with eBay to have them remove it.
Their product doesn’t have the same warranty or quality, but they are claiming it does"
So why does Umnitza`s power-regulator modules have an extra connection for no reason. I smell some thing fishy here. So i e-mailed the eBay seller.this is what they had to say "It's the same, you can see what we are selling by looking at the actual item photo. You can also see what kind of feedback rating we have. We are NOT umnitza and never claimed that we are, and we don't want to be Umnitza either. We just ourselves able to offer the same item with cheaper price"

I'm leaning towards the eBay an Umnitza one are the same. What do you guys think??

Nice find. I wouldn't be surprised if they were same since all this stuff is Made In China anyways. Retailers just package them under their own brand. So its $25 cheaper and comes with an extra ring for the signal light?

I looked at the eBay listing.... they definitely look identical to the Umnitza ones, right down to the regulator boards.

Its only a $25 difference so its most likely the same. I guess the only way to tell is for someone to order the Ebay version and do a comparison.

Would the 3rd ring around the signal light look good? I'm thinking it might be a little too much.

Tekwatch on the mazda3forum put LED's on his signal light...not the same but will give you an idea

If someone does order the eBay ones let me know and we can compare them (I have the Umnitza version).

The BMW community has so many vendors that knock off each other products. I would not be surprised if this was a umnitza competitor knocking off their product, and or buying from the same supplier. They're all shady as shit :chuckle
