Hi guys,

A few months ago my 6 disc CD changer cacked out and refused to read, accept, or spit out discs of any description whether burned or genuine. All I would get is a bit of a grinding noise and a "check CD" message.

Since I didn't want to hear the grinding I simply removed the CD Player and just left the radio intact as I can use the AUX port to play ipod tunes anyway.

Now I have recently discovered that my radio lights are not working. DOH ! Any ideas on what that might be ? All of the buttons have full functionality (except SAT and CD because there is nothing there), they simply don't light up and thus are a pain in the butt to deal with at night.

I'm OK with gently tearing my dash apart and going digging but if any of you folks have any sort of indication as to where I should dig first it could save me a ton of time and frustration.

A replacement CD unit would be great too if anybody knows anybody.

if your car is still under warranty, why not get that replaced?
otherwise, look on ebay for any 06-08 mazda3 radio (04-05, and 08.5-09 are different) and it will work... if you have bose, you must stick to bose, if you don't have bose, you must get a non-bose... a single disc unit is fairly cheap and will fit right in... the single disc unit has a stronger laser anyway... the head unit is part of the CAN computer network system and without it, some functionality maybe lost on your dash... some say if you swap the entire unit (faceplate and all) to the 08.5 or 09, it will also work and you will get MP3 capability... but I can't be certain

Generally, all these leds are powered by the same source as all adjusting backlights.
Terminal E is the positive signal from TNS relay.
From terminal G the PJB applies pulses of ground, the wider pulses the higher average voltage.
You can check this voltage on main head unit connector.
