Need some recommendation for Map lights and Dome lights.

Are these any good? I am looking for the cool white look with a tint of blue (kinda like the HID colour... close to 6000K but not blue).

Yes. And they will look like crap. The map-light bulbs are visible, so you will see the ugly LED sticking out. Second, most of the light from map lights comes off of the reflectors, which require a bulb with a good amount of side-firing light. However, with the bulbs you linked the side-firing elements won't stick out past the reflector.

I had a quick look at the usuall LED sources.... all of the decent looking bulbs have disappeared!

Only a few months ago there were lots with a nice clear plastic tip... now there are just the ones with teh exposed LED elements or with huge heat sinks.

I don't have time right now but I will fish around later today.

Hey Noisy, if you could look around I'd really appreciate it
I wanted to swap out map lights, dome light, trunk light on a 2007+ hatch, and liscence plate LEDs
the LEDs look really inexpensive on ebay ($2 bucks a piece vs the usual $10 at local shops), but it looks kind of confusing to figure out which ones will fit
i tried searching using the bulb #s from mazda3forums list on ebay, and I would get like 4 different styles of bulb for one size....very confusing

You can use the Osram Bulb Cross Reference (google it) to get the bulb types for the entire car.... map, licence, glovebox, trunk are all 194. I don't recall what the dome light is... it's a ~30mm festoon...maybe 3175?

These LEDs might be a tad too long for the map lights (except for the last link you provided).

A pretty broad range of LEDs with festoon fittings will fit. A 4x3 or 4x4 array is about the largest that will fit our car. I think I am running a 4x3... it fills out the lense better than the smaller skinny bulbs...

and i noticed that on the hatch you can distinctly see two light sources, it'd be nicer if it was just entirely even

Yup, that would work great! (In fact, given how hard it is find the style I may even pick up a couple for if/when I get tired of the blue ones I have now.)

Probably won't help too much... the LEDs have less spread than the stock bulbs... if you want a line of coverage you could use an LED strip.... although you would have to get a bit creative on mounting it.

That should fit, no problem. The bulb just fits into the a pair of clips, so a mm one way or the other doesn't make any difference.
