I was getting engine check light for the past few weeks on and off, together with battery light. I just figured it was a cut wire from the MAF sensor socket. After connecting this wire the engine check light and battery light disappeared. But i disconnected the battery to clear the lights. LEft the battery disconnected for about 5 min. After connecting the battery and staring the car, the car for the first time stalled and it would not rev more than 3000 rpm. The 4th attempt engine started fine no stalling but it will struggle to idle at 700 rpm. It sometimes drops below 500 and stalls. No more engine check light or battery light ON. But it seems to have a problem idling. Do i have to reprogram the computer or what could be the problem. ?

no no .. its not back firing. I think the MAF sensor is fine otherwise i would probably get a CEL. This also happened to me when i changed my clutch but i think its because something happens to the computer when battery is disconnected .

Check your maf harness for broken wires. You will want to disassemble the loom to inspect the wires. Make sure you inspect the wires while the car is at idle speed and listen for any changes. You'll know you founf it when the idle speed changes / engine struggles. Fix wire: zoom zoom.

I have seen a car stall after resetting the ecu, which is what you did. I've also experienced the bouncing RPM, again, related to the ecu being reset. I've never seen any problems with getting it up over X RPM after resetting though.
