Hey guys,

I've been thinking about swapping the tails on my 05 GS for the OEM LED's from the GT's BUT

with that said,

wouldn't that mean to make everything look good and not out of place, i'd have to replace the 3rd brake light with the darker one and also the reflectors on the rear bumper too, no?

Any idea how much are those extra parts are as well? (assuming the OEM ones are the best bet)

the 3rd brake light between the GX/GS/GTs are the same in 07-09.... they are semi-clear with a red backing
you're better off getting a real (non-mazda... because mazda never made one) LED 3rd brake light off ebay

I don't think you want to find out how much the actual tail lights cost from the dealer.... you're better off trying to find used ones... good luck!

from what i've read, it's $500 for the tail lights (i don't know if this includes the inners)
but i also saw http://www.thespeedline.us/servlet/the-142/02-pls--Mazda3-Sedan-4D/Detail linked here, but after duties/customs/taxes/shipping, it might come close to $500 anyways, and by then i'd have actual Mazda lights, and not replicas...

Funnnnn!! Back end swap = wicked mod for 04-06!!!

You're right, including the inners, you're looking at approx $500. But then again that's about what I paid about a year and a half ago... they might have come down in price. Talk to Joe at MOT, that's where I got mine and the price was well below what every other dealer was quoting me.

Another option is to check out junk yards. I looked at car-part.com (http://car-part.com/) before deciding to buy new, but I found a set in perfect condition at a wreckers in Aurora for a great price.

And definitely go for the smoked LED 3rd brake light! Get it from Peter at Nextmod. Mine works and looks soooo good :)

Post pics when you're done!!!

its going to cost almost $700 reason being..outers alone are around $506 and inners are $180 :O LED 3rd brake light would be around $40-50. i got lucky and got mine used..lol

The OEM LED tails are hard to find, as no one really wants to switch them out, the options are quite limited.

It took me a while to find them too, and when I did (on Kijiji), I instantly took them, I drove to Mississuaga at 1am that same night to pick them up LOL! They look great, will probably outlast the car, and they're brighter then bulbs.

When I picked her up, a 2004 GS Hatch

wow, that looks great coriolis

hopefully by next summer i'll have this done
i don't want to go overboard, but i'd love to get an m3 lip spoiler too..

then i'll claim "that's it!" for mods, which will be a lie :chuckle

That goes for everyone hahaha :)

But as mentioned, check Kijiji/Craigslist, I was lucky enough to find someone parting out his Mazdaspeed3, when I met him for the sale, he had a STI :o
