Hi all... my apologies if I've chosen the wrong forum...

I have an issue with my 2008 GT... when opening the rear driver's side door it is catching and damaging the front driver's side door. This problem first occurred 3 months ago and was fixed under waranty.

It has since re-occurred, but this time I'm being told that the only way this could occur is if the front door had been dented (even slightly). I can tell you for a fact this is not the case, and I'm calling BS on the dealership / body shop. As far as I'm concerned the original issue was not fixed. The symptoms were treated but not the cause. I understand that a dented front door is the most probable culprit, but I'm curious if anyone else has seen this occur due to some other reason.

For what it's worth, I've been told that the hinges are all tight, but in my mind this is only one thing that should be checked. If something is slightly off spec or misaligned then tight hinges are irrelevant. I don't appreciate my concerns being dimissed by the dealership, as well as the implication that I'm lying about the door being dented. Any thoughts / advice are welcome. Thanks

Something is definitely misaligned. Did you buy the car used? Can you post pics of the door lines at the bottom, the ends (front on the front door and rear on the rear door), and between the two doors? If I understand correctly you had this problem and took it to the dealer to be fixed; they made some adjustments but the issue is still there? What exactly did they adjust?

Your best bet is to go see Richard at Street Performance and have him look at it.

Bought the car new back in June 2008... it was a demo but I didn't have any issues until May 2010 (a couple weeks after my 48K service). I'll have to take some pics, as I don't have any readily available. The body shop bent the damage back out a few days ago, so at this moment it is not catching. As far as I know, this was what they did the last time, in addition to repainting and tightening the hinges. Beyond that, I don't believe they (dealership or body shop) have looked for any other defects. It's really weird because it seemed to be okay when they fixed it last time, but 3 months later it's happening again in the exact same spot and exactly the same way.

i would definietely have the dealer look at it. that is NOT normal at all and would agree in that it's an alignment issue.
