2010 2.0L - 3rd gear vibration?

Hey guys, I started noticing my shifter vibrating after shifting into 3rd. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's disconcerting to know, and I just bought the car a few months ago and reached 1000km last Saturday.

Anybody else have this?

hey i have this on my 08 GT HB. same thing, not always, but sometimes there is a vibration.. and more noticeable if i push forward while in gear.. and accelerate. My warrenty is up now.. (81k) so i hope it's nothing major

I have an 04 HB with 110 000km and the samething happens as described by hasteij. should be normal, but I would bring it in just because your car is brand new and under warranty.

Now that you mention it, I too am having this exact same issue..

..I notice however that the so-called vibration doesn't occur when I am downshifting into 3rd gear..

..also, it doesn't happen all the time when shifting into 3rd gear, only sometimes, but it especially seems to happen when shifting at a higher RPM..

i just hit 1000 kms yesterday did not notice that. i will pay more attention to it tonight when driving home.

my car is about a year old and I've noticed this 3rd gear shake thing as well since new. Only really happens if you are holding the gear shift while in 3rd, and then pulsing the gas a bit. If you do this, you'll feel the shifter move slightly - more of like a jerky feel in the shifter knob. My guess is that it has something to do with the engine/tranny mount that flexs a bit while in 3rd gear. I'm not a mechanic so I'm not 100% sure what the reason this happens.

It doesn't sound all that desirable, and not sure if the highlighted bit would be a cause for concern...

...any further ideas/opinions/thoughts?

I've got about 1400kms on my 2010 GX and currently no 3rd gear shake. I don't normally hold my shifter knob unless I'm shifting so it is shaking or moving while driving I wouldn't know. I look down occasionally to see it is moving and shaking while in 3rd gear I have not noticed it doing so.

I don't drive past 3500 RPM so not sure if you're gunning it to the red line or just driving normally.

this is only noticeable if you are actually holding the shifter.. otherwise you'd never know

What does it mean when the whole car shakes in 3rd gear? I drive an auto 2010 GS.
