Hey, This morning i started hearing a ticking sound from the fan and it gets louder when i turn up the fan. i just bought my car to the dealer last week for fix up that headlight issue with my 2010 mazda 3 GT. anyone experienced the same problem.
Should i just bring it to the dealers again......

WAIT i had the same problem and still have it as it is intermittant. I had the in cabin filters removed by the dealer as they told me to drive 3 or 4 days with them out to blow out the leaves which never happened. So i have learned to just deal with it

Just open the fan box in the passenger foot well and CAREFULLY vacuum it out. Use your hand to remove the big leaves. My dealer removed leaves twice for me. Now I do it on my own LOL.

I have trees all around my driveway. Unavoidable.
Terrible design on Mazda's part...I've NEVER had this issue with any of my own cars, my family included.

it happens to any car, it's not mazda or anyone's fault
stop parking under trees and/or put on recirculated mode before turning off the engine so that it can stop whatever crap from going in... your fresh air intake is right under the wipers like most cars, so it's obvious stuff will fall/sucked in... you didn't expect the fresh air to come magically from some place did you? :chuckle
make a habit of clearing leaves sitting anywhere on your car also... not only to keep the crap from getting into the HVAC system, but also from it decaying and becoming a nice place for ants or other critters to live in

fram makes an aftermarket replacement for the 06-09... it's better and cheaper than the mazda one... I don't see why crappy tire doesn't sell it
look up the part number on their website, it's there
it fits the 04-05 also but I don't recommend it because it doesn't have the difuser built in like the mazda filter has... without it, your A/C won't blow as cold as you'll want it to be

This is a bad design. Leaves should not be able to make it to the fan itself. My car is the only car in my driveway that has ever ever had this problem. Sure...leaves make it into the HVAC system...but never make it to the fan...
I always clear leaves from my car. I also realize where the air comes from. I am a building automation tech and deal with very very high end multi-million dollar building/campus HVAC systems. Leaves should not make it to the fan. they don't in any of my other cars...
HVAC is what I do.

i have never heard it in any car before but my car. my 05 mz3 was fine my moms murano we have had since 04 never had this issue, my 91 pathfinder we hasd for 13years never had it my dads cars which were german never had it. I think its a poor design of the manufacturer. And yes i live in a "leafy" area

if leaves make it into the HVAC system, they made it PAST the fan... it's called a "blower" for a reason... the fan is ALWAYS the 2nd thing in the system after the air circulation flapper... if you have leaves not stuck in the blower but in your filter of a non-mazda, it has already made it to the fan and past it, simple as that
automotive HVAC systems are always this way and although in principle works like building HVACs, they are still quite different
I have seen this happen on corollas, accords, chevys, sentras, etc... it just happens if you neglect to clear leaves off your car and park under a tree.... the least you can do is put it in recirculated mode before you turn off the car and get out of it!

I realize it is very different...but nobody I have ever spoken to has had leaves get in to the fan before. Plain and simple. Design flaw if you ask me...and anyone who has ever been in my car wondering what is wrong with my car.
I know all about blow through vs. draw through design, and why they use a blow through design, however leaves should not be getting stuck in the "squirrel cage" of the fan (if you want to call it that)
Maybe it's just a fluke as to why none of my other cars, my parents cars friends cars or siblings cars have this problem LOL!! I think not.

I had the same thing happen on mine. Drove me crazy and was definitely worse when I had the system set to recirc.
I got a car wash with underbody spray and it cleared whatever was in there (not sure if it was the underbody spray that did it, mind you).
