So, my friend's JL 500/1 amp went "ka-put", can she take it somewhere to have it fixed?

Or is she SOL?

But it doubles as a spy shop - so tell her not to wear a skirt or use their washroom. You never know where those mini spy cameras are mounted LOL.

How old is the amp? If I remember correctly JL has a two year warranty on amps.
