View Full Version : Lucky to be alive while fixing truck

An unidentified man had a near-death experience when his pickup suddenly fell off a hydraulic lift.

Just seconds before the truck fell over, a friend came into the garage to chat. The man walked to the other side of the building just before the truck tipped over and landed where he was just working. Good thing that friend came in when he did.

It's unclear what caused the accident, but we imagine it'll be some time before this lucky guy is comfortable working under his truck again.

As for the truck, well, it'll need some serious repairs, but we suggest he sends it to shop.

I don't think it's the lifts fault. He may have not had the arms placed correctly. Someone with shop experience chime in...

it looks like the mechanic brushed the front tire while coming out from under the truck to talk to his friend....brushing the tire set off an imbalance that caused the truck to fall off the lift.

if anything, it was his friend that set off the chain of events that caused the truck to fall. :loco

Wow, and this is why they say to make sure you have the hoist feet in the right place so you can avoid this danger!

I don't think he would of died because the truck slipped down pretty slow, he would have time to react and run away IMO

the truck should not have fallen like that had the lift been properly positioned.

my guess is the mechanic leaned against it when he aproached his buddy, that along with poor positioning made the truck fall.

Guys...he's using a single-post lift. I don't know about the rest of you but I've been in/to a ton of shops and never once seen a single-post lift being used...why? Because it's inherently more unbalanced, arms or not.

^ Never seen a single post in person either.

So what happens when you have to wrench something?

Haha, it's okay...I'm not *that* young nor are you *that* old.

Get a single-post lift and put a box on top and you'll have your very own flight simulator!

My friend actually died this year,,,crushed by an RV after the hydraulic lift he was working under collapsed and the RV crushed him, he never stood a chance.

He was only 25. I know find it hard to trust hydraulic lifts :(

Aw, that's terrible. As much as we are having fun poking at this video, hopefully people will remember it and no one else will get hurt.

I don't blame you for not trusting hydraulic lifts.... I don't even trust my hydraulic jack when changing out the wheels ... I slide an 8x8 with a piece of 2x4 on top beside the jack "just in case".
