Comeau lived in the village I grew up in, she lived right behind my cousins ex g/f. Hard to believe what he was capable and did do. My uncle actually got the base commanders award and has a picture of him shaking hands with Williams receiving the award.

I saw this in the Sun yesterday, sooo many disturbing pics. I can't believe they release these to the public. This guy is severely disturbed. I am SURE he has offended in the past and probably has numerous minors over the years as well. i hope they lock him up forever and strip him of ALL off his military awards/recognitions.

Showing all those pictures seemed a little off. It's jsut too much.

We were talking about this at work the other day. Working on an Air Force base this guy has been a topic for discusion quite a bit. None of us were sure what would become of his pension as he should be getting a dishonerable discharge. There would be certain implications of this I just don;t know what they would be. I haven't seen something like this before.

The only thing is his wife. Without his pension she may have difficulties for the rest of her life. (I am not sure of her current financial situation) I think she has been through enough finding out she was married to a monster.

Just a thought.

Interesting proposition. I think many people would be for this one because right now the taxpayers are paying for this. If we get more money, we could partially alleviate the shortage of prison space. It's unfortunate that we have to do this but there are really sick people in society that need help or need to be behind bars.

what I was hearing is that his Pension will either go to his wife, or that there's some clause in military law that states if you are dishonourably discharged your pension is forfeit.

there's no jury. This isn't even really a trial, He's been sentenced and plead guilty already, he's getting life in prison with no chance of parol for 25 years. What's going on now is that they are getting all the facts and impact statements into the official record, so that in 25 years when he comes up for a parole the parole board will have all the documentation to see that he never, ever, ever gets aproved

Why are you looking at men wearing womens' clothes while at work anyways?

I agree with the pension though, **** him.

I cannot begin to put into words the disgust I feel towards this man and the amount of sympathy I have for the victims and their families.

I just wonder how this could have gone on for so long without getting caught by either his wife or the police...

At least he is admitting 100% guilt for everything he's done - whether it's because in his sick, twisted mind it's like bragging or because he somehow feels an iota of remorse, he's saved the families sitting through a lengthy court process and suffering it over and over again.

Something like this truly shakes one to their foundations and I can only imagine how hard it will be for those affected directly and those in the affected community(/ies) to ever live a 'normal life' and sleep in peace again.

I dunno going in with Military training he could probably fight off a lot of people, however he will probably be in solitary forever to protect the general population and himself.

Karma is a biotch at times and one can only hope that he suffers the same fate on a daily basis that he put his victims through. Although, I doubt it would ever come to this as prisoners such as this will be segregated from the general population.

No problem with them printing this. We have no problem when a woman is shown wearing the same clothing. The main reason we are offended is because of our societal homophobia. You replace the body in the photos with a woman and it's no longer offensive or disgusting
I think the reason that these photos and the details are being made so public is to ensure that EVERYONE is aware of this guy and what he did, in order that he may never be granted parole.

Personally, for me it has nothing to do with homophobia. It has everything thing to do with the fact that with every piece of clothing he wore has a story behind it. A disturbing story and a victim which he violated. That is what makes it offensive in my view. This is a sick man wearing stolen women's undergarments for kicks and some sick arousal. That makes a big difference.

I think these pictures shows one of his trophies and the need for more arousal each time to get the same effect. Notice the look on his face is the same. There is a lack of emotion in both. It's the look of a cold blooded killer and rapist.

It's amazing how he was able to hide all this from his wife. She must be in shock.

There should be always exception to a law when shit happens like this, especially when our P.M said he will do ANYTHING to strip him from all benifits..... his pension should be one of them!

That's just my thought .........

I agree with you about being stripped of everything. I just didn't get the comment about WTF is up with the Canadian Forces. They can only do what is within their power as far as his pension is concerned. At least they are able to take back his salary since he was arrested. A part of me thinks his wife should get something of his pension. I don't know what and I'm not taking away from the victim's families here. But this woman believed her future was safe and secure up to a few months ago, she also believed her husband was normal.

Yeah unlike the US where your military pension is tied up to your performance. Ie if your are dishonorably discharged, you get no pension, or if you're demoted your pension drops to your new level regardless of how long you were in your previous position. Even if they change the rule it will be too late for this case. Also because he was found guilty in a civilian court he won't also be tried in a Military tribunal.

All members of the military recieved this e-mail today from our Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). There is no one higher within the Canadian Forces and I thought it would give all of you interested a view into what his words and thoughts are on this subject.

Please try to read it with an open mind. Not many people outside the Forces get to read this stuff.

CDS Message: Mr. Russell Williams

1. On 21 Oct 10, Mr. Russell Williams, former Commander of 8 Wing, was sentenced to two concurrent terms of life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years for the first-degree murders of Cpl Marie France Comeau and Mrs. Jessica Lloyd.

2. The crimes committed by Mr. Williams are deeply upsetting to us all. Over the last few months, I have spoken with many of you in town halls across the country and on missions overseas. Like all Canadians, you and I have been shocked and repulsed by the crimes he committed.

3. During these conversations, you expressed your sympathy and compassion for the victims and the families affected by this terrible tragedy. I also listened to Canadian Forces personnel of all ranks as they expressed their bewilderment and anger at the betrayal of our institutional ethos of truth, duty, and valour. Because of his heinous crimes and his subsequent criminal conviction, Mr. Williams has lost the privilege of calling himself a member of the CF community.

4. With the conviction and sentencing completed, and following my recommendation, the Governor General has revoked his commission, an extraordinary and severe decision that may constitute a first of its kind in Canadian history.

5. Further, the following actions will now be taken:

A. Stripping Mr. Williams of his medals

B. Termination and recovery of his pay from the date of arrest

C. Denial of severance pay; and

D. His prompt release from the CF under “service misconduct” – which is the most serious release item possible.

6. As a consequence of his release from the CF for quote service misconduct unquote and of the revocation of his commission, Mr. Williams no longer possesses a rank as a member of the CF.

7. I wish to point out that under the CF superannuation act, there are no grounds to revoke his pension and a court martial would not have any impact on these accrued benefits.

8. Some have questioned why Mr. Williams has not also been charged under the military justice system. I believe we need to understand why this is so. This is because there is no jurisdiction under the code of service discipline to try persons charged with murder where those murders took place in Canada. Mr. Williams was therefore tried and convicted of all of these 88 charges under the Criminal Code of Canada by a civilian court. Additionally there will be no further court martial on these matters because the National Defence Act specifically prevents an individual from being tried by court martial where the offence or any other substantially similar offence arising out of the same underlying facts have been previously dealt with by a civilian court. This basic principle sometimes known as “double jeopardy” is fundamental within our civilian and military justice system. With his current convictions and sentence to life imprisonment justice has already been served.

9. Now more than ever, this is a time for us to come together and heal as a community. We are doing everything we can to assist those in need of counselling or other support. I urge anyone who is feeling upset or concerned to seek assistance and to talk about it. While doing so, we will not forget Cpl Marie France Comeau, Mrs. Jessica Lloyd, and the many other victims and their families who will remain in our thoughts and prayers forever.

10. It is time to move forward, be strong and proud because the actions of Mr. Williams are not reflective of the values of the men and women who serve in the CF, whose integrity and self sacrifice come through loud and clear in words and deeds each day. Whether helping Canadians at home, abroad, or providing the hope of a better future to the people of Haiti, Africa or Afghanistan, I have seen our ethos of truth, duty, and valour at work and making a difference in the world. You have reason to hold your head high. Be strong and proud! I am proud to be your Chief of the Defence Staff.
