Well from looking at the video it looks like the cow still has at least one eye left, so it probably still can see, and amputations after the initial impact aren't neccesarily painful, all the nerve endings have been severed. I still agree that it still should be put down. If it doesn't starve to death from being unable to eat/drink, it'll definately die from infection. As to why they were filming it they might have been trying to get a record for insurance purposes. Also to why it wasn't shot, the cow might be in an area where discharge of a firearm is not allowed, or they may be in a country where ordinary citizens aren't allowed to use/have firearms and are waiting for the authorities to arrive. Plus they might not have the firepower to bring it down ethically.

Ok that is one resilient cow. Its a cruel thing to go through, but cow is standing there like nothing even happened !?!? Like, if it was feeling any pain, wouldn't be running around or moving erratically?
