I got my 2006 Sport GT a while back and am wondering what is difference between the different factory offered systems and which do I have. The system sounds pretty good for a stock system, but there's always room for improvement.

My car came with a single disc CD player and six speakers.

I am contemplating changing out the speakers and maybe adding a sub to the system, but I want to retain the factory HU. I would hate to go through the trouble of buying and attempting to install aftermarket speakers only to find out I lucked out and had the bose option.

I am pretty sure if you have a bose system it will say somewhere on the grills or the deck that it is bose system. If it doesn't say that then more than likely it isn't the bose system. But even if it is factory bose you can still improve on the overall sound of the system.

fyi.. 6 speakers system in an 06 would be 6x8's in your fronts with tweeters at the top of the door. and 6x8s in the rear as well.

My 06 Sport GT has the six disc changer but it doesn't have the Bose speakers. If it did have Bose speakers the 'Bose' logo would be on one side of the plastic mesh that covers the speakers. It's kind of weird. My car has the luxury package but still didn't come with Bose. First owner must have not opted for it...

I have the same question. Can the underseat Bose Sub from a 2008 be installed and function in the 2005?

I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure they didn't start using the 7 speaker Bose system until the 2008.5 model, that was one of the upgrades they gave for the 2008.5, along with electric seats, and Xenon headlights.

Right, but can you get the underseat sub from a wreck and make it work on a 05-06 factory stereo.

I don't think so because the bose system had it's own seperate amplifier system which you would need to get it to work. Unless you go out and buy an amp and LOC. In that case your better off going aftermarket from Pioneer, Alpine or who ever.
