First post, so forgive me for sounding ignorant, but...
I just got my new 3 GT sedan in white last night and have never had manual leveling headlights before. What is the purpose and what should they be set at for normal driving?
Thanks!

It's really your preference on what level you want it. Some people adjust it depending on your load capacity. But I don't think that matters..... Hope that helps

Does no one read the manual these days?

+1 That's what the manual says. Highest should be your default and then it says to lower depending on what load is in the car. I just keep it at highest and lower only to show people it can :chuckle

are not all headlights manually adjusted? or are these electronically adjusted?

With the GT OEM HID, there is a switch to adjust the height of the headlights when driving. This was done electronically. This is instead of the headlights doing it without input electronically like some car companies do.
Outside of this, there is a way to adjust them with the hood up should the need arise. I'm not sure on 2010's nor am I sure on non HID for pre-2010.

The pre-2010 GTs that came with OEM HIDs can be electronically adjusted. This isn't the same as adjusting the lights manually - from behind the headlight using a screw driver or whatever.
The electronic adjust basically boils down to adjusting the light lower than you normally would. So the highest setting is 'normal' level and any other settings will basically lower the light beam. This is useful when you have heavy cargo in the back of the car which raises the front and thus lowering the light brings it to the 'normal' level.
In case you need to adjust the light higher than 'normal', you still need to adjust them manually.
I am not too sure if there is an electric adjust switch in 2010+ cars - I heard they have auto-leveling.

the '07 GT's were the first year to have the manual levelling.
Not sure if you had to get the hid's to get it, or if the halogen lights had it too. my guess is only the hid's would get the manual leveling.

only OEM HIDs had the option to adjust lights from a switch.
