So this week i picked up a kenwood DDX712 for a good price. I Always preferred kenwood's sound in comparison to pioneer and alpine when it comes to car audio.

The unit should be arriving next week. I also ordered the dish kit Scosche MA1543B. It comes with the dash drim piece and the harness.

Just wanted to know how everyone Else's experience has been installation wise when going from dock to a 2 din unit.

So far ive upgraded all my speakers to kicker, i have an LOC right now for my subs ( MTX 400W amp and 2 10" Infinity subs).

I'll be posting pictures of the install when i get around to it sometime late next week.:headbang
My next upgrade will be around Xmas time when i add a nice 4ch amp to give the speakers some juice. Im thinking of going with either a KICKERŪ ZX-650.4 OR BOSTON ACOUSTICS GTA-504. If anyone has either of them please let me know how you like it.

Space is very limited behind the deck, so once you add all the RCA's and what not it gets a little tight, thats all I've noticed with the mazda's. Never had a problem with a deck sitting right but just something I've noticed, and it can be a pain in the arse.

Isn't the 712 just dvd...you didn't want a nav unit?

Yea i dont got much cash to go spend $1200 on the 2010 models with the gps already built in. The one i got is DVD and it came with the blue tooth. I plan to add the GPS accessory to it sometime within the next 2 months ( its about $150 on ebay). I also plan on getting a back up camera and a TV tuner ( Not kenwood tv tuner.. a different one that hooks up via RCA because it gets digital were as the kenwood one only gets analog tv. It goes for about $100 on ebay)

My dashkit should arrive within the next 7 days.. then i can finally get started on this project.

I've found that the 2010 models have allot more space behind the deck than previous years.

I've got two decks installed in my car and there is enough room back there for all the goodies i've installed. Once you've got the deck out there is plenty of room to the left and right for steering wheel controls and such. I've got the NAV add on for one of my decks and it sits in my glove box.

Well i just finished my final upgrades. So the list is as follows..

1. Kenwood DDX712 Deck ( with BT& Sirius)
2. Dual ported Bassworks box with 2 inifinity 10" subs
3. MTX Amp for the subs ( forget the model Number)
4. Alpine MRP-F300 ( to power the speakers)
5. 1 Farrad Cap
6. Kicker 6X8 for rear doors
7. Clarion 6X8 for the fronts.

Sounds pretty sweet n hits hard. ill be taking some pics tomorrow and posting them up on this thread so everyone can see the finished product.

Only thing im thinking of doing now is possibly changing the front speakers to Kicker 6.5" components ( this keeping all 4 speakers Kicker).. OR im thinking of once again replacing all the door speakers with Some 6X8 Boston acoustics for the rear and 6.5 component Bostons for the front. What are your thoughts? My old car was all Boston and it sounded amazing.

BTW have an extra 2010 Mazda 3 double din dash kit brand new still in packing for sale if anyone's interested PM me.
