Just purchased a set of mint Mitsubishi Lancer GTS wheels and tires for my daughter's new 2006 Mazda3GT purchased last month. Wheels are 215-45-18. Car now handles like our 2002 mini cooper. The 17" OEM's were converted to a winter set.
Still trying to figure out how to post pictures in this forum as I am new.:)

you can always upload your pics to (imageshack.us) then copy the forum link to your post. Make sure you resize your pic in the site as well. =)

Yuppers. I plan on swapping rims continuously between my 3 and my Lancer.
Did you manage to get the TPMS sensors with the GtS rims? If so - Let me know how much you want for them.

I don't know if the wheels have TPMS sensors.
I do not plan to take off the tires neither to find out. Sorry about that.

GT-S Lancer got a nice set of rims, very similar to the 07-09 MS3 rims.
It sure helps on handling with the lower profile tire....but handling on Mini Cooper is insane and a MZ3 can't even compare...even the Speed3 cannot compare the handling with a Mini Cooper

I wouldn't be so sure about that. The handling of the mini is nothing but fun. Even though I own a normal mini (non S or JCW), you can put it in the corners until the front end starts to slide sideways on you just like what happens when you go to the go cart track. No difference. that why it so fun.
After I put these 18" wheels with Dunlop SP5000 tires on the Mazda 3, the feeling was not that much different. Although the center of gravity is higher, you sure could throw the car around in the corners with complete confidence.
Possibly the mini can do the corners faster but you will need a track for test that.
Just my opnion.

yes - I had no problems taking the center caps off the OEM rims and snapping them in the Mitsu rims

Those stock dunlops are the worst tires ever made. I would strongly suggest replacing them. They are poor in handling wear uber fast

Cool! I have a lancer RA with the same wheels and I was also wondering if the mitsu/mazda center caps were interchangeable. Just got my answer..:) Thanks!
I just picked up a set of '05 OEM GT wheels painted gold for my winter setup. Got the wheels from 'skunk2' (cool dude) and was inspired by laksman91's winter setup:thumbsup.

Would those statements be from personal experience?
In my opnion, these tires ride and respond extremely well.
I cannot respond to their longevity or durability at this time. possibly by same time next year.
However, I can tell you with a high degree of certainty, that I am not able to exceed their performance abilities on the street (and I am no sunday driver either). I've shredded my share of tires over the years by pushing them too hard.
Technology has come a long way and todays tires are modern wonders of engineering.
If you are referring to tire performance on the track, then that is a whole other topic for discussion which does not belong here. We all know these tires were not designed for the track. I do not (nor plan to) track the car or enter it in slaloms.
In conclusion, I think they they are more than good enough for most of us and I do not think they should be replaced "just because".

Tires are different on every car.
On the Lancers the stock Dunlops really do suck. Not sure if it's the weight distribution, or just the expectations of what they should be able to do.
However - I did have the chance to drive my friends' VW with the same Dunlops, and they handled much better through the turns.

Is there any rubbing with the tire size of 215/45/18?

A beastly thread bump as a first post...nice..
For the setup explained in the post you quoted, there shouldn't be any rubbing. But depending on the modifications you've made to your personal ride height, those tires on these rims could potentially cause you rubbing.

Thanks! I am researching tires and wheels right now, so trying to see if this size rubs for my Mazda 3.

There is no rubbing - even if lowered on ProKits

You will need special lugs for it to work though
They're called "washer" or "mag" lugs

Nice man! So that's 215/45/18? Stock suspension? No rubadubdub?

Yup - taken right off a Lancer
No rub at all. Actually wanted to run 10-15mm spacers to just flush it up a bit more

Do you think 225 would rub?

Do you think 225 would rub?
Nope - unless you did a 20+mm spacer
IIRC - these rims are 18x7 +43 offset - real close to OEM fitment - with a lot of room to fill

Now is only a few other brands/models would switch over to 5x114.3 it would make the options endless. I think WRX/STI for 2015 finally comes back to 114.3! That limited gold STI wheel is amazing!

STI changed over from 5x100 to 5x114.3 from their 2005 and up models. Not sure if the other imprezas followed suit.

This year I know the WRX switched over. You know I never thought about the center bore because I was only originally concerned with not wasting the aftermarket wheels I already have. That's too bad...
