+1 for waiting for the real thing...too many bugs with beta versions

Please note leak versions are usually released at a MUCH later date as official versions. If you're planning on waiting, I'll let you know how it is on the 9700 (before I sell it). All carriers are NOT going to release an official version until after the new year (they dont want it to hurt the 9780 sales by making Blackberry 6 available for the 9700).

I'll probably check out crackberry forums and read feedback and if needed, possibly wait for another leak...

Runs smoother than I expected. Real release probably won't be til after the 9780 has been out a bit.
Really like it to be honest, not perfect but finally a decent browser.. But besides bugs (expected due to a leak), I really like it

Its nothing too bad. For example I have some very large text msg conversations (due to not deleting, thousands). So it hangs when I try to scrollup and down on that one.. Gotta go to options and change the appearance setting, and it'll be fine. Another bug was a file not moving to a folder like I wanted.. But that's about it. Otherwise, really enjoyable OS. The webkit is great but a tad slow due to both the fact that the 9700 doesn't have as much memory, but also IMO, its quite an early release too.

Still, I'm posting this from my 9700 while at Jimmys, it would have been to painful to try this on the old browser LOL, so I wouldn't have tried haha.

Well.. keep in mind this is a LEAK. RIM doesn't want this out, the 9780 (9700 with extra memory) is around the corner, and to most people (people that don't know too much about whats inside the phone), OS6 would be the most differentiating factor - keep in mind the phones look identical. Now that OS6 is on the 9700, if the average joe sees this they'd be like "whoa , so what different about the 9780?" Truth is, os6 will perform much better on the 9780 due to the memory.. but hey. RIM is scared the 9780 will lose sales, and to be honest it probably lost a few for the people who only wanted os6 and didn't care about memory, RIM was probably delaying releasing OS6 for the 9700 until after the 9780 was for sale.

Anyhow, OS5 is stable on the 9700, so, if you don't want chances of instability, don't go with a leak, but if you wanna try you can always do it its reversible after all.

Actually two things...9780 is out or practically out on all carriers...and RIM has stated carriers already have OS 6 for 9700 BUT due to 9780, carriers WILL NOT put out on official until next year (they'd be stupid to)...RIM isnt worried bout 9780 sales...9700 has been out for a long while, it is carriers that care bout 9780 sales ;).

Speaking of, time to put my mint condition 9700 up for sale.

Fair enough, that does make sense as well. Carriers though to be honest are always ridiculously late in releasing any OS updates anyway lol. How you like the torch?
And haven't seen you around school in a while dude! (was the one in your FIN300 class!)

I'm fully used to it (touch/keyboard). It's not heavy, browsing is more then satisfactory, otterbox makes top of keyboard slightly harder to type on but otherwise I'm very happy with it. I already dropped it once :bang but luckily I had already had it in the otterbox commuter so it saved it from 99.9% damage.

Which guy in fin300? lol...I'm taking some random courses this semester (almost done).

I believe the 9780 has the extra memory, a 5mp camera, and what might be a newer gen processor, though that last point may or may not be valid. Either way, it works fine for the 9700, just shrink your OS to remove all the bloatware and you'll be cruising.

Bman - glad your torch is alright lol. One thing I like about the berries is I feel they can take a beating. (Whether or not this is true or not though.. Haha). And for the class, it was in the winter semester (winter 10), mcgraws? Asian dude lol. Think we also had 505.. Which is how I knew you were tm3.

Silentjay - out of curiousity what do you mean bloatware? Just the unneeded language packs and apps?
