sometimes car wax can fill in scratches pretty well. Not permanent but easy and cheap if you have some around..

Believe it or not peanut butter can work. (just make sure you don't use the crunchy one)
Just take some peanut butter and wipe it on the cd, then with a cloth wipe it in and then off.

When trying this method, I recommend using white bread to wipe off the peanut butter. No waste no mess plus makes for a quick lunch or snack.:chuckle

+1 on this. I managed to revive an old ps2 game with this :) so thankful for peanut butter.

Funny, but no Peanut Butter in my house. :(
If Vlad is willing, but I misplaced the DVD now. Go figure.

I normally buff them out with a clean square of felt and water. If you know someone with one of those scratch doctor machines they do work, but they're really difficult to use properly. Half the time I just end up ruining the disc when I use my one of those.

If you do get it to read, make sure you make a copy ASAP.

Alot of Blcokbuster Video stores offer a scratch removal service. They use the machine they use to fix up rental DVDs and Blurays.
Wouldnt hurt to check it out... and its pretty reasonably priced too.

Not a bad suggestion, still have not found the DVD however. Will check with Block Busters.

Tooth paste.
If the scratch have not gone too deep to damage the record layer, buff with tooth paste and microfibre cloth. Light circular motion and radially (perpendicular to the tracks.) A few minutes will do. Once playable, make a copy for back up.

+1 liquid car wax will sometimes work.
