View Full Version : Issue with my new HID's

I've searched this forum and others and haven't found an answer for my HID troubles. I picked up the HID kit from Nextmod recently. I installed them with the relay harness provided and picked up a capacitor as well to stop the DRL flicker.
When I turn on the HID's when they're cold, they light up right away, then shut off before warming up. I have to turn them on and off 4-5 times before they will stay on and I don't have any problems after that. I wait until the car is running and keep the fog lights off before turning the HID's on.
I've triple checked the wiring and changed the grounding point 3 times and I still have this issue. Any suggestions for causes or possible solutions would be much appreciated!

Would like to know as well. I spoke to another member who had this issue, he said he took it to Jimmy and he did his magic.

I've got the same issue with one of mine, talked to Peter, and he said to bring the ballast back (that it's faulty) and that he'll give me a new one. Now I just need to get off my lazy butt and drive over there.

So you guys are saying that both of my ballast's are faulty right out of the box?
I found a new issue tonight while driving around. The lights will flicker every 10-15 seconds. The drivers side actually flickered out twice and I needed to shut them off then on again to get it to fire again.

I didn't use a guide but my setup is wired almost identically to stevenma188's. I have the capacitor in the same place as well. The only difference is that the harness that came with my nextmod kit has the ground wiring for the ballasts done through the harness ground rather than independently to the body.

i cant answer your question exactly. but i can say i have had similiar problems. i would turn my car on...both HID's work, but the driver side light then flicker...then go out.(this would only happen like 1 out of evey 10 times) the other light would never eve go out-ever.
to make a long story short- it was the balast. i know how ye feel- checking the wiring over and ove again thinking its something you did.

Yup, what everyone else is saying. Purchased and installed by Peter and the crew. Switched the ballast and its fine, but now the other side is messed up. Won't be able to go to him for awhile to get it replaced tho....
