I had my car allignment the other day and had the guy remove the tires. He called me later and told me that his machine wasnt capable to removing the tires since they were too tight. So I had the tires removed at another tire shop and noticed the gouge in the outside of the rim. Called him this morning and he admitted he did gouge it and thats why he stopped, however he failed to mention this to me before. Ive included some pics, its right in the chrome lip of the wheel. Do you guys think this can be resurfaced or do i just have to sell it with the rash?

Make him replace it.... Nothing pisses me off more then jackasses not been care full.

When ever I get tires demounted or installed on rims I'm alway specific with them not to put one mark on my rims

I recall Carcone quoting $150 per rim, for rim repair and refinish.

was quoted 90 to refinish the lip from precision rim repair, sound like a good deal?

i've been to Precision Rim Repair. They're located near Weston Road and Sheppard. I had my rx-8's refinished by them, same prices as Carcone's.

to Seesly, hope everything works out for ya! keep us updated.

Since you can't replace it then they have to replace all 4 rims for you

Sure... Why not... They damaged it.... It's not your fault they discounted them

Call Carcone's Craig... The spoke being too close to the lip is BS I think. Lots of wheels dont have lips to begin with :)

i went down to carcones yesterday actually, he told me its too tight to do a polished lip. So he would need to do a cut lip which will look different than the polished lips on the rest of the rims

Get them to pay to have the damaged one fixed, then all 4 refinished so they match.

He's still not getting the wheels he wants, though (unless he prefers it that way).

carcones just did one of my rims and what an amazing job they did. the rims looks awsome. if carcones took a week to do mine and fill in the chunk taken out of it etc and they say they cant do this rim then i trust that.. well no one can. they have such a great reputation for this and i completely see why with my rim.

Odds of getting 4 new wheels outta this is pretty damn low. If he can't find one to replace the damaged one, and they can't match the finish on them originally he's not left with all that many options.

true but if this guy has a reputation he wants to keep then he mite try everything. especially seeing as he did it and admitted to trying to ignore it and hope he didnt come back. thats pretty low

The place that did it can also pay seesly what he paid for that rim ??

true... but i think we can all agree that unless he got a new rim, the set of rims and his experience with the place will never be the same. even if they fix the rim its not the original and its not the same.

ok update for you all. The rim shop sent my rim out for repair and it came back with a cut lip!! very noticable different from the other 3 rims. Now i dont know what to do, the rims are discountinued so i cant have the rim replaced, and ever rim repair shop seems to say they cant replicated the polished lip on the rim du to space from the lip to the spokes is too small. Any ideas? ive included pics of the repaired rim. BTW the rim repair shop is not returning his calls so he cant send it back to them to be fixed he says

either they replace all 4 rims to make you happy or change the other 3 to "match"

but i personally think the cut lip degrades the look of the rims a lot, they look cheap with the cut compared to the polished dont u think

That looks terrible. :(

Are those rims not available anywhere? No new old stock around?

That sucks man... I'm sure that lip could be polished out but would not be cost effective for a shop. You could try yourself but I would consider that LAST resort.

id personally get the shop to send out the other 3 and get them to match. sell them and buy yourself some new(er) rims you like as much.
Seeing side by side is one thing, but not being a big rim person ( i somewhat like my cars looking stock, had my cars broken into ALOT) a set of 4 polished or cut looks nice. youd definatly be able to sell thoes for a price, espically since theve just been refinished. Great thing about craigslist is words like "custom" or "one of a kind" are easily used.

that would cost him nearly as much as replacing the set, and i strongly dislike the cut lip look, it makes the rim look cheap
