I just bought an '07 GS. Now that it's cold and I started using the heater lots I noticed that when the car idles the heat blowing through the vents is only luke warm. While under power the heat blows nice and hot.
Has anybody else experienced this? Is there a fix?
A friend mentioned that such might a result of low coolant. I tiopped it up, but it didn't help.

Did you let the car heat up? You can't expect to get in the car and have hot air instantly lol. if you heat it up and it's still warm and not hot it could be air in the coolant system.

is the fan set on re-circ or is it being sucked in from outside? might make a difference in the consistency of heat that you're getting.

in the winter time do not have your car on recirculation, it will cause your windows to fog up like crazy.
as for the poor heat, it sounds like the cooling system needs to be flushed and fresh coolant put in, there may be a restriction in the heater core causing poor heat when you are a t a stop but when you drive you get heat.

I had the same problem with my '05 GS. I brought it to the dealer several times, first a heater core flush, then they changed the thermostat, then the water pump, then finally they checked to see if there was a leak of coolant through the head gasket . . . that seemed to be the problem . . . of all this work, some was covered by my extended warranty, some not. It's been an interesting journey.
