Took my car in last night for an inspection....engine over heating when not moving.

As expected, it turns out rad fan not operable.

Turns out I needed thermostat and temp sensor.

Ok, Ken took me in after work on a very busy evening and I was there past their closing time but he did make sure I was looked after instead of turning me away. COOL, plus 1 for that cause I was really tired of pulling over every redlight to let the engine cool down and then drive another 5 minutes. Minus 1 for only offering me a 10% discount and saying that is the absolute best they can do even if I am a member of TM3. I ended up getting my parts from Dave at Avante 7:30 this morning for a really good price that Ken even had to call them to find out how/why they were able to do that. Service was performed and I was called shortly after to say car is ready and I am good to go. I had also asked Ken to have a tech look into adjusting the horizontal adjustment of my headlights since I have tried turning the screw 1000 times to no prevail. He said they did take a look at that but that the HID bulbs are too big so it can't be adjusted. Weird cause the bulbs are the same size in each headlights and the driver side adjusts fine but the pass side doesn't........don't think it's an issue with the bulbs but they didn't charge me for that so it's a wash I guess. Kinda felt and got short 1 word answers to questions that I had to all members of the service department but all the other departments were open and talkative. Ken did say he applied a 10% discount to the labour cost of installing the thermo and temp sensor which came out to $259. I know I could have paid less to have these 2 parts installed elsewhere once I was told the total but what is done is done. I work 10 minutes away so it's rather convenient. Ken seems to be alright but one thing that threw me off was that he said next time he would give me a better discount............weird cause he said 10% was the absolute best they could do period before I agreed to go ahead anyway. Guess I'll have to try back the next time something goes wrong...unless I give Avante a try.

Pros and cons seem even so I guess it turns out to just be a convenience thing since it was close to my work. If I didn't need this fixed asap for a work trip out to Niagara and had more time, Parts from Dave at Avante and service from Jimmy at S/P for the win!!!

Impressive

I am not a big fan of Ken !! Very poor in resolving tech issues. :flaming

For my next service, I may try Avante and see.

I talked to you Joe, you were telling me about the lip spoiler on your car that I wanted for mine. I was also asking about getting a spare key remember? I like your ride. You were the coolest one out of everyone there but Ken told me he could only do 10% on parts as well so how come now I see it says they give 20%. That's not cool......I will def not go back now since he can't get his biz straight.

Oh okay, I remember you now. Yeah you should've come back down and asked me about the other parts. Ken has no say with parts prices and I will make sure he knows.

10% off labor only
20% off parts

No problems with Ken, not sure why others think otherwise. Although I do prefer Vincent.

Alright so just a quick update on my second experience with Mazda of Toronto:

Took my car over to see if they would cmy rear passenger door rusting at the bottom. Was advised by the service manager that I was past the warranty period for that so they probably wouldn't but that he would send in pics and argue my case. Received a call last week saying Mazda has agreed to cover and that I should bring it in on Monday. (2 days ago). Received a call yesterday saying work is complete and I can pick it up any time. Asked about cleaning of the car because past experience with body work from another repair shop was not good. (white power from sanding everywhere inside between cracks and what not)

EXCELLENT work and PROMPT service this time around. When I picked up my car this morning it felt like I just got into a brand new car off the lot. Cleaned and detailed to a T and I was very happy with the overall experience. Couldn't believe the great job that they did thus far although I haven't got up close and personal to examine everything since it was beyond freezing this morning. Will check on lunch but from what I have notice so far, 2 thumbs up on this experience.

Thank you both Ken and your service manager (I forget his name right now) for the proffessionalism you have showed.

Cheers for now
:)

I had an excellent experience with Rick, after confirming the price of the part with Joe (Flip) on the phone. I was in and out in 25 minutes after he asked me the necessary questions (remote start, how does it work with the factory system, etc)...

Also, saw a familiar car I recognized off TM3 across from MoT yesterday... car looks good buddy. I stopped in to say hello but you were in the middle of a delivery.

i'm going in tomorrow (or tonight) for 2 rear shock replacements, and a parking brake adjustment...
says it'll cost roughly $1K...

i've been to mazda of toronto before and it was alright to deal with.

hopefully i'll get to see joe or ken!

+1 Ken
+1 Joe

Vincent stepped out when I came in, so I went to Ken.

Nothing wrong with Ken. I got my rear shocks replaced under warranty. Told me it would take a few hours and got me a shuttle to Finch. He called me right after it was done. He was nice and professional. He also found out that I haven't replaced my cabin air filter which I was planning to do. They inspected my car even though I only came in for the rear shocks. I'm happy.

Picked up a cabin air filter from Joe. Thanks buddy!

Can't go wrong with MoT.
