View Full Version : Direct Mazda - Well worth visiting

My search for a new car, a MAZDA 3 sedan, started with a few visits without any serious inquiry. The next step was emailing the contact address on each respective website. I got mixed replies, anywhere from direct and informative, to "we don't send information via emails" and those that did not reply at all.

The most exciting and enjoying part was actually scheduling appointments with those who replied and gave me at least some information on the emails that I sent. Out of all the people I met with, the most accommodating person was Mr. Peter Pickering of DIRECT MAZDA.

Peter emailed and gave me information that I needed since DAY 1. He never waivered and even though he never met me before, he trusted my queries. It did not end there. When I met him, he was the most professional sales person I have ever met. I can sense he was the busiest person on the floor. Taking calls left and right, talking to each and every personnel in the dealership. Until I discovered I was speaking with the president of the dealership. El presidente was very accommodating and never lost patience in providing me with the information I needed. He explained the difference of each and every trim, shared information regarding my choice of financing and even offered information which I really found very helpful during my choice.

After all the information he gave me, I spent another 2 weeks and did some information gathering from 3 other dealerships. DIRECT Mazda gave me the BEST price and the best experience ever. Let me put it this way, I was just looking for a GX at first, contemplated on a GS and ended up getting a GT. On the day I wnet there to finally confirm a color for a GS, I popped a simple question......."Peter, would you by any chance, have a manual GT available in your stock and if you could maybe provide me with a price". The rest is history!

The finance manager, Mr. Jose Alvarez, has to be the nicest finance manager I have ever dealt with. Like Peter, he will discuss with you the detailed aspects of each and every offer they have, regarding the MAP and other offerings they have, whether you get them or not. He is not the one to pressure you or frown if you say NO.....he smiles every step of the way. If you call him on the phone, he will give you his full attention and would even return your call right away.

The sales consultant who released my GT, Mr. Andrew Colasante, was also professional and funny. You know when some people just go through the motion of doing their thing.....this guy sincerely performed the delivery procedures with professionalism and patience. He sits with you in the car and tells you every detail that you need to know about the basics. If you have questions, ask away and he will patienly explain it to you.

I really enjoyed my purchase experience with Direct Mazda, I sincerely believe that these guys are the real deal. If you want a good and unbelievable deal, drop by DIRECT Mazda by Battleford Road in Mississauga, you won't go wrong.

Sounds like you got the day crew. And I'm 100% sure that the day crew is every bit as pleasant as you had encountered them. But the night crew... when I went in to get my used '07 GT hatch, the salesperson I spoke with was... okay, I suppose. Didn't know jack about the car, insisted my car had DSC/traction control, even when I pointed out that the button for it does not exist. Sales manager barely said a word to me or even came out of his office to say anything to me, despite the fact that I was the only customer in the dealership, and he gave me the most insulting trade-in value for my 02 Civic (sold my Civic privately for 2.5x the amount he tried to steal it off from me). Finance manager (his name was not Jose, I can tell you that much) acted like he was doing me a favor by writing up the bill of sale.

One of these days I will come by the dealership in the daytime and see the difference. But honestly, don't buy a car at Direct Mazda when the night crew takes over.

I guess every dealership has their own highs and lows. I went to other dealerships that had more than positive feedbacks in this forum and found them just mediocre, if not, simply ridiculous to deal with. We can only wish that every shopper has a pleasant experience everytime they drop by a Mazda dealership. Service is always an integral part of every purchase. An action of a single associate can undermine the integrity of a dealership and that is when top management should step in and remind these people that they represent not only the product but more so the whole dealership.

The problem is, these were the actions of several employees.... particularly those who are supposed to be higher in the hierarchy (sales mgr, finance mgr). Why so? Because I was only buying a used car? If I had bought a MS3 instead, would that have perked their ears up? They should be pleasant no matter what I come into the dealership for, whether to purchase a new car or a keychain.

I forgot to mention, I asked how much a cargo mat would be for my car... was told that I'm being offered a special price from the sales manager on it. Checked it out on my iphone, and it was MSRP.

Again... this is the night crew, they must take over from around 4pm onwards or so. Direct Mazda, if you're reading this, you know who these guys are, and you know just as well as I do why these guys can get away with this without being fired.

I hope Mr. Peter Pickering reads this thread. This is indeed a valid point and should not be taken lightly. A customer is a customer and I totally agree with you my friend, be it pre-owned, brand new or a best seller, treatment should be equal and always above par.

If and when I do drop by for my 1st service, I will mention this to him and hopefully he takes action on this.

I did not mean to bring down the euphoria of your new car purchase or your experience with the day crew, I apologize if that had happened in any way.

I'm actually kinda jealous of people getting new 2010 mazda 3s :x The smiley face isn't so bad if you just get used to it, it's all the cool new tech and more powerful engine that I want :D

No apologies needed my friend and I will bring this up with Mr. Pickering. Every dealership should exhibit professionalism and from your experience, it is shameful for these group of people to perform in such a way.

As for my having to get this Mazda, I understand the jealousy part BUT then again, I have to put in 5 hours of part time work just to pay off this baby. :bang

I do look forward to driving to and from this job as it gives me a good 40 kilometers back and forth. That's a lot of zoom-zoom time! :)

NOW if I could only get a job that would pay me enough to stick to only one......:complain

I went to Direct Mazda Tuesday morning because I found a screw in my tire and I didn't want to pull it out myself.
I had a great experience.

They took me in right away first thing in the morning (I did not have an appointment) and looked at the issue.
It was my lucky day because the screw was tiny and did not puncture my tire.
They also looked at my glovebox rail. The box drops quickly.
They found that I am still under warranty so they ordered the part for me no charge.

They didn't even charge me for the visit! (I hope I am not getting anyone there in trouble!!!).

They guys were courteous and friendly.

Thanks to you guys! Much appreciated your help!

Going to Direct Mazda for my 24K service :D
I wish I bought my 3 from them!! >=( they gave me the cheapest price out of the three dealerships I asked quotes from, plus they were the nicest too!
But oh well..I will post my review once my service is finished :)
I'm a little bit worried though, because I might be going in at night, instead of during the day time.

Don't worry about coming in the evening, we have licensed techs here in the evening not apprentices. What day are you coming in? I will be here open to close everyday for quite a while.

Awesome!! I will need an appointment for it right? I'm looking to have it done this week or next week. And I'm looking to pick up a touch up paint pen too.

Surprised to read this...quite different from my experience (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?33432-Direct-Mazda-Not-so-Direct) with Direct Mazda. I felt the place was run by idiots...anyways, that was 2 years ago.

Congrats on your purchase!

I understand that this dealership has gone through many changes, everyone from 2 years ago is not here anymore. I have 11 years Mazda experience and we have some good guys here now building a good team. No place is perfect but we try to make everyone's visit here as pleasant as possible. Hopefully you take some time to visit us to see and experience the difference we are trying to make.

Glad to hear that. Good to know that whoever is responsible there took a look at their sales/finance team and made changes.
