My third brake light works when i brake, but my other 2 brake lights don't light up.
I've changed both the bulbs and still no luck. I'm almost certain it's not the bulbs because when i lock my car, the brake lights that don't light up when i brake.. light up. I'm not sure if it's the wiring or maybe the fuse?

Has anyone had this problem before?

does your horn work? is your car auto or manual?

It's a manual car. I'm pretty sure my horn is working, i know it beeps when i lock my doors.

Could be the switch on the pedal then if it is not the horn relay.

if you put the wrong bulbs in, it won't work!
the tail light bulbs are dual filaments, there should be 4 contacts on the base

If the third brake light works, that eliminates the brake pedal switch. Also two brake lights hardly go out at the same time, so something else can be at play.

I would suggest checking the fuses. I'm not sure, but it is possible that the main brake lights are on a separate fuse and the third light is on another one. Could be a safety measure to ensure there is some warning still available.

I had both the brake lights burn out on my protege while the 3rd brake light still worked... cause was dying battery and alternator was putting out high volts which killed the bulbs
so it happens
