I do live in Canada, but it was to good of a deal to pass this up. I'm sure I'll manage to go through the winter with these, plus I'm gona wax them.
Also I know I'm going to get a lot of comments about lowering (I want to do it), but I'm on 17x7 offset 40mm so I'm not really sure what kind of lowering I can do.

nice, always loved these...they are actually the background on my computer right now lol

I would recommend snow tires for the winter...or at least all seasons don't you get a crap ton of snow in Windsor? but to each there own.

Those wheels are beautiful. May I ask where you bought them, or what is a private sale?
Those wheels are at the top of my list come spring.

Love the rims, but without winter I doubt you'll get to enjoy them next summer.

Ofcourse I have all season tries...r u crzy lol
But no I should be fine without snow tires, trust me Windsor doesn't get that much snow. I drove in the past with no problems (knock on wood).

As for where I got them from, it was an amazing deal from Discount tire: tires+rims+installation+antitheft lug nuts=$850 out the door. (however the fricking border killed me with taxes and brought the total to $1040)

As for lowering I will do it, but in the summer, but I don't want to do it to much as I don't want any kind of rubbing, so what you suggest?

PS. I painted my calipers yesterday blue and silver. Pics coming soon.

The only thing that I'm worried for is about bad effin drivers that don't look in their blind spot. I almost got nicked today. Good thing I had a middle lane I can side to.

That's the thing...winters will help you on those "emergency" situations...and protecting yourself from bad drivers!!!

not really. you can't really do anything if that happens. All season is what I always had and had no problems so I should be fine.

That's what I said. Then again I got my car in November of 2007 and I decided to go out to a friends house during worst storm of the season. I had the whole "brand new all seasons" mindset but I can recall it took a shovel and two guys pushing to get me back to the main road from residential street. Street wasnt plowed yet and my tires were just spinning on top of the snow. I doubt we'll have a winter like that but still snow tires DO help against those bad drivers.

You wont know til you go through a winter. :thumbsup

Exactly what I'm looking for in terms of rims. looks sick.

+1 on the winters. I'm on 2 month old eagle GTs and I spun the wheels once or twice tonight (3-5 cm snow on the roads)

MrIon
12-05-2010, 11:12 PM
lol ok guys i get it, winter tires help blah blah.

If I had a lot of snow down here I would buy them, but Windsor really sucks at getting snow so I'm not worried.

Now back on topic.... those rims are sexy :) lol

:) My wife lived in Windsor for a bit, I know if doesn't often get the same dumpings we get here. Plus I've done winters on stock all-seasons, its not the best but I did it knowing I could choose not to drive on any given day if I wanted to.

Love having winter tires now though!

I've always loved these, the blue on the inner arches is awesome, makes the rims look sooo sexy. The red version of these aren't bad either, but I prefer the blue ones.

I agree. I was about to go with the red version, but everybody does blue and red and I think it's overrated. I think black and blue looks very nice and it's a bit different.
Everytime I stop at a stop sign or walk in a parking lot people are looking at the rims lol.

I do need some help with detailing ideas. I don't want a lot, but just something simple that I could add. (ofcourse some blue outlining or somthing).

Ok, he gets the point. We all hope nothing happens to your rims. But the other thing besides the tires is the finishing on the rims. The salt can really take a toll on your clear coat. But regardless, nice choice. Blue and black is definitely more rare compared to black and red *ahem* lol. At the end of the day its individual taste.

Nice choice on the rims though

That is the reason why we all keep mentioning snow tires but we'll stop. We don't wanna see those beautiful rims face unnecessary damage. We gotta look out for each other :thumbsup.

Winter tires work better under 7C....All Season compound starts to harden under that....so....snow or no snow you'll still be risking it somewhat. As for the waxing idea...good one. I hope you're ready to wax often.

no painted calipers until page 12ish of that thread (and even then, it's some weird greeny blue), but either way, holy hawtness on a WB hatch!
