alright so you got a new cell phone from telus? and comes with a 1 year warranty right? well...this is how it works
Q1- If your cell is not working right within the 1 warranty, can they fix it for you??
A1- Yes!! takes 4-6 weeks so no cell for you for that long
Q2- What if you need a rental phone??
A2- Yes!! you can have one for $150 and we give you money back after
or you can pay $7 a month for 3 year and you can get a replacement cell in 24-48 hours
so point is you pay $150 when your phone is covered or wait 4-6 weeks with no cell phone or pay $7 a month for 3 years ($252) just so you can cover your warranty

If you argue with them long enough, they will give you a brand new replacement. My uncle does this. He convinced them to give him the new model too lol
Be sure to write down and take a note of who you're speaking with so when you call back you dont lose progress

Ok, this sounds reasonable. They are essentially asking you for a $150 security deposit on the loaner phone. If they give you the money back when you return the loaner phone and pickup your repaired phone.

Working in the wireless sales business, BlackBerry's are the most DOA products we sold across all carriers and models (Pearl, Curve and Bold). It has nothing to do with the design of the product, but the carelessness at the manufacturing level and software engineering. The software is Java based, hence its slowness and why its so prone to crashing. Secondly, since the BlackBerry BOLD 9000, RIM has switched all their assembly and manufacturing over to Mexico. I am not sure if they closed down their plants in Canada and Hungary but that's another topic.
Now regarding Telus, it really depends on where you purchased your phone from, basically its the dealers responsibility to provide you with a loaner, etc. Not Telus on a corporate level.
In terms of warranty, Rogers Wireless is the only one that actually has a decent warranty that covers you decently. Assuming you are under warranty and your problems are not customer induced, you are sent a replacement device and once that arrives you send back the defective device.
Two pieces of advice that I can give you from experience, ditch your BlackBerry until they straighten up their Quality Control and bitch to your dealer about getting a loaner.

From what i was told (from a friend) and from experience, when i needed a loaner phone for my old BB, they gave me one on the spot, no questions asked (because i was on warrenty), but recently Telus changed that rule of giving out a free loaner. So now you have to pay for one i.e 150$ but you get it back when you return it. when i had to get a loaner BB, they gave me one of the first BB models, which was kind of ridiculous, it had the scroll wheel on the side of the phone lol.. it was so ghetto..

Rogers spoil me, maybe because my voice is annoying and they just want me to get off the phone ahahaha!
This year, my dealings with Rogers has been great!!
November 2009 - Got my white Bold 9000
February 2010 - Lost my white Bold 9000
February 2010 - Requested for a replacement of my Blackberry Curve (lol) since I lost my Bold 9000, I had to stick with my Curve, but I didnt like the fact that it was all scratched up so I requested for a replacement =P
February 2010 - They sent the "refurbished" Blackberry Curve to their OWN office (LOL) and so I was told by the Office of President that she will send me a new Bold 9000 but in replace of the refurbished Curve (Sounds good to me :D)
February 2010 - Received a black Bold 9000, dropped it on the pavement and it was chipped to the next level!!!
February 2010 - Called President's Office, I said I wanted white Bold instead of a black Bold
February 2010 - Received my white Bold and returned the chipped/scratched black Bold
February 2010 - Sold my Blackberry Curve for $200
July/August 2010 - Got a hardware upgrade for the iPhone 4, paid $169 for the 16GB, sold it for $700
August/September 2010 - Bought a Bold 9700 for $350 off kijiji, sold my 9000 for $250
November 2010 - Sold my Bold 9700 for $300 and bought a Torch for $450
November 2010 - I tried to do another hardware upgrade for the Torch but was given a free Nokia E63 instead (brand new in box lol)
I thinkkkkkkk..that you should keep on escalating the problem until you get what you want lol they'll eventually give in!! I'll call for you LOL

People are stupid, they always call and yell and curse. That gets you no where, Rogers is the most flexible company I have EVER dealt with, because their employees can do anything at the call center, you just have to get on their good side and you'll get what you want.
Rogers has let me upgrade (not replace) 4 times in the past 12 months (iPhone 3GS, 9700, 2xiPhone 4) on my phone number...

yea, similar situation for me with rogers, if you talk properly, u get everything lol
First i started off with a HTC magic, then my HTC got crushed, so got it replaced with a pearl 8110, then got that replaced with a 9700, and then did an upgrade recently to a Iphone4. :)
Sold it for a GalaxyS, but now sold Galaxy, and back with a 9700.
