See the smiley there.

Not saying CT is shit. Surely, it happens everywhere else, just that quite a lot of coincidences happen at CT. :)

Everything is possible, it's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay

start by contacting some of the local sponsors.

Alpha motorsports, next mod, cta motorsports etc.

My MS3 2010 just reached 40k last week. Didn't really drive it at all this week as I had study week (college). Went this morning to start the car, it just stalls. Just had it towed to Scarborough Mazda. Been searching the forum for anyone with the same issue but I haven't seen anything yet. Car turns on, revs up to about 1k, then stalls out. Hoping it might be a simple computer update but somehow I don't think so. Maybe a sensor or something stupid. If I try to turn the car back on after it stalls out, it does stay running but the car revs jump around and the traction control and engine light stay on. This is the first time I've had issues with this car as it's only needed oil changes and the like so far. I think it's time for a trade-in lol.

Sounds like a leak that might be the problem, my keyboard is messed up right now so this is going to be so this is going to be a funny looking post. Khek all your hoses and vakkum lines bekause one of them kould be loose or kraked. Khek the boost kontrol lines, boost lines, intake tubes and anything else you kan see. If you have a khek engine light the kodes might help lead the the kause.

Well they called and asked if I park outside. So I said yes, then they explained that something like a rodent somehow go into the engine and ate some wires. I don't think so as I can barely put my hand in there. Now it's not covered by warranty so it will be $109 per hour for them to try to fix the issue. It might not even be the issue at all. What a ****ing joke...

Yep, the dealership emailed me 3 pictures. Looks like a squirrel somehow got into the engine bay and ate into the engine heat shield on the hood but also looks like they ate some of the MAF wiring. Who knows how bad it could be, could be a simple MAF wiring harness replacement and the engine bay heat shield or it could go deeper and be a hole can of worms. All I know is that something should be under warranty as it has full everything. I'm just beyond furious at this moment.

I didn't check under the hood before I sent it in. This is the last thing I was thinking could have happened. It just sucks as I'm a student and don't work so this makes my situation kinda dire. Hopefully this doesn't happen again as I will be installing some kind of shocking wire around the perimeter of the car. I didn't need to use the car all week as I've been off. I'm not an 18 yr old. I've saved to get this car. It being new, didn't cross my mind to check under for one second. I was thinking maybe a sensor went or something along those lines. All I know, it's 109$ for them to test thing, it came up with 3 codes so they will start there and check stuff out, he said some things might be covered or not depending. So hopefully it's just a MAF wiring harness. If not, it could reach an insurance claim as the service adviser mentioned last year it cost a guy over $6000 to repair squirrel damage. Not to mention, everything the needs is dealer serviced regardless. So hopefully they cut me some slack and help me out ahaha (seriously a joke).

The car is fully covered. I mean fully covered from lightning to hail to even a squirrel attacks. It ate through two of the MAF wiring sensor wires close to the harness. So it looks like it will cost around $500 for them to replace the wires and do the service ect. It will also help later on for warranty issues as well. I'm thinking it might be time to trade the car (gf can't drive stick regardless) and the BRZ looks like fun. I don't want to run into issues later on if things happen and then it leads to this issue which is non-warrant and then it won't be covered.

I hear you all. She tries her hardest but you know, some people just can't do it. She stalls when people get to close because she gets nervous, she stalls when it goes back on a slight hill because she doesn't know when to release and gas to go ahead. Oh well, we paid just under 600$ for the repairs, lucky that Scarborough Mazda gave us AWESOME service, covered tons of stuff and even helped out in reducing pricing or just fully covered the costs.

The OTS maps from Cobb are safe tunes. Just check the site for the correct tune based on your mods.
Once you have time you can have a custom tune from mspeed created that will unlock more of the cars potential.

I called Cobb, its 50% off the regular cost of a v3. So its a $325 trade in after you buy the v3 at full price, unmarry your v2 and send it back. The question is if $325 (plus shipping and duties on the original $650 USD) is worth a sexier looking AP and multiple logging parameters shown at once.

The cp-e flex hose is quite rigid and it is reinforced with wire. Not as flexible and easy to work with as the hks hose....

will try putting 2 clamps on that bitch tonight and if anything wrap some tape around the flange adadptor to beef it up a bit too to reduce the gap that needs to be clamped....

but I adjusted the hose and the clamp for about 45 mins and it leaked everytime.

Chris you can apply better torque to tightening the clamp and more even pressure on the hose with T-Bolt's... Try using them :D

You can do it now but it requires tuning to use properly, it will give you better boost control/response but for the K04. The EBC that comes with it is fine for the stock turbo. If you plan on upgrading down the road, sure why not get it, but it is a little bit of work to tune again. If you like tinkering go ahead but if not just leave it as.

From what I've read on MSF, it's attaching the wrong serial number to every map so it won't match up when you go to flash.

The tuning part doesn't bother me, I've been self tuning for a while now and know that in 3 port to cut things in half in the WGDC and go from there. I'm not sure if I'll upgrade turbo's down the road (might be way down the road when I have a second vehicle)...but seems like for the $100-150 bucks, why not?

When you open ATR, in the top application title bar you should see your serial number in the brackets (<serial number here>). For the new version of ATR they list if it's a V2 or V3 access port, so it shows as "(V2: <serial #>)" within the title bar if everything is working correctly.

Today was sitting in a parking spot idling the car for several minutes, then began driving towards a close-by highway on-ramp. Upon hitting about 3k rmp in 2nd gear large amounts of black smoke came out of the exhaust, tied with how much I pressed the gas. I got it up to 120 anyway by keeping under 3k rpm, and it didn't happen the rest of the drive home. Was this likely caused by the computer adjusting to running rich while idling, and then the sudden change from idling for over 5 minutes, to accelerating abruptly, causing unburnt fuel to dump out? I was scared my turbo had blown for a second!

You can get orings anywhere, go to the parts store (napa, parts source, canadian tire, princess auto).

Got the internals and the intake installed today so thought might as well get him to put on the bpv as well. Anyways thanks for the reply ill check part source tomorrow thanks.

Anyone know why my oil is leaking? My cap doesn't seem cracked. It's dripping out of the cap, seems to be quite little but still too much. I have like 10 spots on my driveway (haven't driven the car for a couple weeks due to partout). Weird thing is it wasn't leaking before I removed my suspension, which obviously has nothing to do with it. The car hasn't been driven and just started leaking. I tightened the oil cap and it's still dripping. Do I need a new oil cap? Maybe I'm wrong about where it's leaking from?

Pics? need to see where the leak is coming from, you mean the oil pan nut or the filler cap?

Yes, it seems like its from the nut. I wiped it down yesterday and saw a drop forming there a couple hours later. just unsure how that could have started happening randomly..

You might need a new crush washer or the drain plug bolt could be damaged/threads in the pan could be damaged.

Usually a easy fix, so hopefully it's just something small that needs to be replaced.

Send to CBI is Niagara Falls, NY. Cheap, easy, crossing the Rainbow is a breeze both ways. Do the round trip for when it opens Saturday and traffic is good and can be back at home and still have the entire day to install said FMIC.

does anyone know why I can't put my fuel pump back in? No matter what I do it just won't go in.. I exhausted every possible leverage option - crow bars, pulley system, knot system, 3 people forcing it in and nothing. I can't get it far enough in to do all 3 bolts. There is way too much resistance. I even went to jimmy to have him check to make sure we reinstalled the internals fine and he said it was all good. I spent 2 days this weekend trying to put it in!

Someone no MSF suggested I crank the motor to push the cam lobe back in but that did nothing..

Are you able to thread any of the bolts at all?

Just curious to know if any of them will grab the block at all. You mentioned you couldn't get "all" three.

Here's what happened like 3-4x: Pump goes in but resists very hard, we are JUST able to throw 1 bolt on. 1 person holds the pump down on that side, next person goes to put the next bolt in and it JUST grabs. Then push down on the pump to try and get the last bolt in and the other 2 bolts are either too tight and the pump doesn't line up, or they aren't tight enough and just pop out. Seriously, this is ****ing impossible I'm about ready to throw this POS through the wall

It's weird that you are getting resistance so soon while putting in the pump.

The 3-4 times that I have done them I just use a tiny bit of fresh oil on my finger to lube the o-ring and it allows the pump to slide in most of the way and I can thread the bolts on by hand a bunch of turns.

If you are getting resistance just trying to insert the pump back into the hole I would check that depth of the hole and the hpfp depth to see if it's actually able to fit all the way in. The cams could be the issue but if you were able to get it out it should go back in. I wish you were in Sauga and not Richmond hill lol...

Thing is I'm reinstalling a pump with stock internals! its not even the HPFP.

We realized that it's literally impossible because we max out the spring when pushing it in.. it physically can't compress any more and the pump isn't even close to being in.

Sounds like the cam is in the way, a last ditch effort would be to turn the engine manually with a wrench @ the crank shaft to see if you can line up the cam so the pump will go in. Turn crank + try to wiggle in pump at the same time. You will have to take off the belt to turn it I believe.

You sure nothing fell into the hole where the HPFP goes?!?!? lol... it's still a HPFP it's just not able to put out as much the upgraded piston.

I know that you may have to crank several times to get the cam lobe out of the way. There are something like 3 or 4 lobes so the chances of one being in the way are pretty high.

You may not be able to see or feel the lobe through the hole. I definitely second the idea of putting a wrench on the crank and turning it by hand.

Blew a coolant line on my way back to kw Thursday. Had to get towed from missisauga. Repaired the line but car starts hard, idles low/rough and blows coolant out the relief valve if you even look at it funny.

There's a chirping noise from near the turbo side when you tap the throttle from idle. Possible egr valve?

Been chasing it all weekend, replaced thermostat, plugs, ect sensor... Had to give up, just dropped it at dealer and did a walk around with the tech. Should have a diagnosis later today.

DLYDRVN
09-16-2013, 12:03 PM
Actually it seems to get worse when warm, but that might be just my imagination. Thing is, the car still makes power and holds stable boost (17-19psi). I flashed back to factory tuning and it still didnt change. Same idle issues etc. I got a C3 misfire code once at startup too.

I have visions of this being expensive. And I'm back to driving the pimped m2 around this week. Handles like a race car, slow like a cow.

Just heard back from Mazda. Headgasket is blown for sure around C2 and C3. Explains the fouling of the plugs in those two cylinders and the 'chirp' coming from near where the ECT sensor is. Basically it was blowing exhaust back into the coolant system. (Also explains a lot about what i was smelling in the engine bay). They're also sending the head out to the machine shop to check for warping or cracking.

Best case: Head gasket only and mazda will cover it under warranty.

Worst case: Head and head gasket pooched, warranty denied ~$2500

The upshot is either way I should have it back by Friday!

pwdunmore
09-18-2013, 07:52 AM
Ya, that are a lot nicer than the cobb ones but you have to watch your AFR and boost if you don't have the JBR intake. As it is scaled slightly different so you may run a tiny bit leaner than usual. Really nice throttle response and power delivery compared to the OTS cobb maps.

Hmm, see that's what I thought too. Apparently westerners say these maps are a lot safer than Cobb maps.

They are load capped so as long as you test it out a couple of times they will probably not overboost like the cobb ones do in the winter.

Do some logs and see if your car likes it better :P

Are you able to take some pictures of the HPFP and the hole where it goes in the engine (post them here and MSF)? Get a couple of different angles if you can. Someone closer than me might be able to help you with it, if you weren't so far from me I would drive out to check it out. If you don't have any luck by the weekend I might be able to come out to help.
