just wondering what you guys/gals prefer.

For me personally I'm one of those people who would rather be moving than starting and stopping. Even if in the end it'd end up taking me longer than if I had stayed where I was and waited it out. I just feel that if your actually moving it's actually faster even if in fact it's not!

I voted for the detour, but it really depends on the situation. Example this week, I was heading down the DVP, planning to exit Don Mills, and hten head to O'connor. However, the DVP was really slow, so I got off at Sheppard, and went down Don Mills. If I had been going, say somewhere in the financial district, I likely would have waited it out. As in that situation, the other options would have been just as slow.

yeah i didn't clarify that. It's pretty sad that in a city like Toronto at certain times of the day it's actually quicker to go through residential streets with a stop sign at every corner, than to take some of the major streets.

Problem is, is that if your on the highway and none of the cars around you have anyone noteworthy in them.

I'd rather take a detour, I start to yawn and doze off if I don't drive :P

For sure a detour. I do it all the time with the 404/DVP when I'm in the GTA... if I see traffic going into the DVP from the 404, I get off at Sheppard, go down Don Mills and then get back onto the DVP from York Mills (??)
