You can do something close at Nascar Speedpark. Question is...if this is at home, how do you get in?

seems like way tooo much motion.... based on gas (up) and break (down)... IMO the chair moves wayyyy to much and doesn't match the road terrain at all.
i guess you never went for a ride in a race car

towelsnap is right, this machine moves way to much. race cars have very little suspension travel. when you accelerate hard they dont jump up in the front by 3 feet like this machine, same with the breaking. and when turning there is ZERO body roll, this simulator is showing huge amouts of roll.
this simulation fails IMO, its intentions look good but it fails to provide a real simulation.
not to mention it probly cost more for this stupid thing than to put your own car on the track.

I think the increase in suspension travel is making up for the G force under hard braking/acceleration. When you brake real hard you'd feel like you'll pretty much kiss the steering wheel and when you accelerate like your back is flat on the seat. Although, the steering wheel and entire car interior shouldn't follow that same angle and line of movement lol but I guess that's the best they can do.

Use it for a F-22 flight sim and that may be a bit better :p
Pretty much what Prime pointed out above. The body might not roll, but you're still feeling it. The only way to simulate that is with the crazy movements. If you were on the chair itself, I'm sure it would feel more realistic.

4 or 5 years ago i was visiting a friend who was playing with the Minnesota Wild. A bunch of guys had condos all in the same building and used to get together all the time in Marian Gaborik's condo to take turns driving his simulator. I got to drive it and found that the movement of his simulator was quite subdued compared to reality, but was still ahead of the game.

some of you younger guys prolly never played the older style arcade simulators...like the one for Champ Cars @ Playdium, etc...
the "movement" is to simulate g-forces...not necessarily suspension travel. when you're on the seat and the screen moves in tandem with your seat, you don't feel the movements as suspension travel.
the old style simulators have fixed screens and therefore, causes conflicting sensory inputs to your body and is thus "felt" by your body to be more like suspension travel, rather than shifting g-forces.
I'd love one of these in my basement...heck, I'd love to have a basement.

hey man, that sounds like a plan...but I want a basement, not a shallow grave...hahaha...
besides, I live in a condo...lol...
Ian Law told us about the $2 million simulator he was invited to try out at Mercedes in Germany...he drove an e-class...but the simulator was a full size car. And Ian said he was besting the MB test drivers by 10km/h thru all the tests (slalom, lane change, emergency braking, etc)...that's pretty cool shit. Then another guy said he can build something like that for $20K...how much is this one?

SO what your saying is that your neighbors below might have an issue with their condo becoming your basement?
