Visentin should of been pulled, thats what happen, we needed a goalie to make the stops when the shots came and he was shaky to say the least. Bad coaching decision, These kids still did good and congrats to russia for the crazy comeback against the fins, sweds and canadians to get gold.

hope you know that Russia is second to canada with gold medals in the JRs, Canada has 15 i believe and Russia had 12..now they got 13..so really it's the only 2 teams that win, kinda like the womens hockey..it's always 99% gonna be either canada or the usa to win gold..

on a side note..this was like watching the leafs, up 3-0 and blowing it in the third, no offence to any leaf fans cause im a die hard too

They were only the better team in the 3rd. Canada stopped skating, grinding on the boards and in the corner, playing as a team. Each player was trying to do everything themselves. No shots. What do you expect to happen. Pathetic!

I'm sorry, but pulling Visentin in favour of Roy would have just been a bad idea. If the team in fronted of Visentin played wit even just a bit more effort in that 3rd period, kept skating, Visentin would have been fine. I can really fault him for the 1 of the 5 goals when it squeaked through his five hole.

Canada stopped skating after being up 3-0 and Russia plays their best and comes out gunning when the other team stops playing. Against Finland, against Sweden, the same thing happened.

Sorry Canada, but with the way you played in the 3rd, you deserve to lose this one.

That last period Canada played like crap, they really didn't deserve to win after a showing like that. Really though, Canada was not a favorite to win this year, the team is not overly amazing on paper, and we should be glad they made it as far as they did.

BUT.....I"M NOT GLAD, In Canada, in regards to hockey, we expect no less than perfection, Silver is a let down. I will expect better next year.

Russia won because Canada collapsed. Overall Russia didn't play THAT well, except for maybe the 3rd period, but again it was because they were playing against pylons.

It's simply a case of these boys being gassed. I mean they played lights out against the US which was marketed as the bigger game. Remember these guys are kids they played hard lights out hockey for 5 straigt periods and they looked completely gassed in the 3rd.

Mark was not sharp in his first game against the swiss letting in some really bad goals, but against the US and Russia he was sharp. Most of the goals were not gimmies and were just as much the defence's fault as they were his. Roy's performance has been spotty in every game, i doubt he would have made the difference. There was no cycling of the puck, no forechecking, lethargic defence in the third that seemed to have all the play in our zone for 70% of the period.... thats more to blame IMO than the goaltending.

Well after all the dust settled, the way Russia played, they deserved the win.

1st Period- Canada dominated every aspect and played to their game plan and strengths.

2nd Period- Canada dominates the first 10 minutes. Play started shifting around the 12 minute mark and Canada started sitting back a little and letting the Russians dictate the tempo of the game. You could see the confidence growing in the Russian players with every minute passing. We were fortunate to score a late goal to make it 3-0.

3rd Period- Russia takes the tempo early and after 2 fast goals obvious panic sets in with the Canada players and you could see the 'shell shocked' look in their faces. Coach should have called a timeout to settle things down and refocus his team. Canada continues to play tentative and in 'prevent defence' mode. The only thing a prevent defence does is prevent you from winning.

Not to take anything away from the Russians because they never gave up and could have folded after the late 3rd goal, but the loss had more to do with Canada losing focus on their game plan and just collapsing. Russia really only dominated one period of play and mainly because we allowed them to totally dictate the play. We choked. Hey, shit happens.

The Russian delegation spent much of the night celebrating their 5-3 World Junior victory over Canada in the bar of a Buffalo hotel.

Thirty players and other members of the group were asked to deplane after boarding Delta flight 1266, which was scheduled to depart Buffalo for Atlanta at 6:10 a.m.

“In order to ensure the safe operation of the flight, the crew of flight 1266 denied boarding to 30 passengers who were flying together and displaying unruly behaviour and those passengers are being rebooked on a future flight,” said Betsy Talton, a Delta spokeswoman.

The agency that operates the Buffalo Niagara International Airport called in extra police “just to make sure that nothing did happen,” said C. Douglas Hartmayer, director of public affairs for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority. However, he said, officers did not have to intervene.

While Ms. Talton would not discuss the identities of the 30 unruly passengers because of airline policy, Mr. Hartmayer confirmed they were the Russian delegation.

The Russians stayed at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Buffalo and marked their victory in its bar, singing and toasting well into the night.
