Without a doubt the best album from 2010 out of everything in the world is Nightmare from Avenged Sevenfold. I don't think god (if he does exist) could have made a better album himself.

even with The Rev out of the picture they produced a godly album. RIP The REV. Synyster Gates is the reason i play guitar.

I read up and apparently they left the drumming just as the Rev wrote it. He passed away 3 days after completing the composition of the album. Listening to their self titled or City of Evil and Nightmare, if I didn't already know it was Mike Portnay, I wouldn't be able to tell. Portnay left Dream Theater to tour with Avenged Sevenfold. Great decision, IMO. The only song on the album not written by the Rev is So Far Away, which is actually Syn's first complete song composition. The acoustic in that song is played by Syn's father, "Papa Gates".

^^ interesting. the drum beats in the whole album are crazy. i wasnt sure if it was the rev though but knowing he had them written down makes it that much better.
mike did a good job with them when they were touring 2010 for the rockstar tour. i had the pleasure to see them live when they came to tdot and what a show. second best show i have seen next to slipknot back in 09.

Man, you should have told me!!!!!!! I would have gone for sure.
I saw slipknot back in...03 I think. It was their Subliminal Tour, so whenever that was. It was also my first concert. The only other concert I have been to (besides cover bands) was Weird Al at Massey Hall a few years ago. Slipknot definitely had more energy (obviously) but overall Weird Al put on a much more entertaining show. He started it with "Canadian Idiot", haha. It was awesome.
