I know most jerseys with additional lettering (like the "O" on the sens uniform) is usually reminiscent of the original team identity...

Habs are a nickname, borrowed from the name of the original European settlers of 'la Nouvelle France: les habitants (the inhabitants).


On a serious note, I wish AT&T/Rogers would buy the Leafs. It would be a win/win situation. The OTPP would make a bundle and Leafs fans would then have hope. The OTPP doesn't need to invest another red cent, because there would be absolutely no increase in return for any money spent. They've maxed out their potential.

Rogers/Sportsnet already have the vectors required to enhance the viewing presence (TV/Web/Smart phones) and would have the Leafs/Raptors as their own, and hence would need to invest in marquee/proven players, create a consistent and winning team to increase a subscribed viewership (income), which would then enhance the corporate appeal to advertise on their networks for big bucks. More viewers, more subscribers, more money, bigger stars, better team. A winning team in the GTA would be great for hockey in Canada.
