I posted my response to support your site! Here it is for those who are too lazy to click on the URL:

"I mod because i want to physically show what I'm emotionally thinking about. Sometimes words just can't express the remaining 10% of how a person feels (perhaps this is why girlfriends complain about their partner not expressing themselves 100%). Some try to express the remaining 10% of bottled emotions by dancing, singing, or sports. As for me...I mod."

For me it's a sense of Identity. We dress our selves up in clothes and a style we like and show off, because it is an extension of us, our cars are they same. When i got the opportunity to buy my car i fell in love with the color (Sunset Orange) there are few like it on the road. I take great pride looking around and seeing my car stand out amongst the sea of gray, silver and black. But i still Mod to make it a true one of a kind car and an extension of myself

Well I mod because I want to improve the driving experience of the car. Most of the cars out there don't drive the way i prefer so i mod to make the car drive, handle, and look the way I like.

Hope this makes sense. lol

I mod to simply put a smile on my face. Listing to that turbo whistling through my 3' downpipe as i sit there idling at that red light. Or when i pop off the recirc-valve to the car beside me and watch there face go from normal to "WTF was that!?!?". Having my car look different than others on the road, even if its only me that notices the little change.
Its not the dollar amount that was invested into your car, but everytime you look at it or stomp on the gas you get a smile on your face, thats the beuty of modding.

I mod because I can never leave stuff alone. Most things that I own have been altered in one way or another. It's an addiction.

I mod for a sense of uniqueness. I'm probably one of the few girls in my group of friends who actually has a modded car. And I've modded in a feminine but non-girly way (if that makes sense) with sticking to a tasteful purple themed mod list. Probably one of the few cars that'll rock purple angel eyes. But I love them- and most people who see them think they are awesome.

It's nice to be unique.

I started modding my old car (Chrysler) because I had a base model, and I wanted niceties like heated leather, projector HIDs, and folding mirrors. That led to far too much money, 4-5 rim swaps, engine swaps, tranny swaps, and ultimately led to the demise of that car.

I quit modding. My Mazda3 is already fully loaded, and with my sound system, pretty much just the way I like it. I would like to have a spoiler, but am afraid that just getting a spoiler might lead to more modding. :(

started modding so that I didn't have anymore money to drink or do drugs...but it didn't help

Plus I hated pulling up to a red light and have 3 cars look identical to mine.

I modded (past tense yes) because at the time i had no other hobby or a girlfriend to keep me and my money occupied! Lol. It was fun allowed me to make my car stand out a lottle even though the 3 is just another car... Mine isnt.

My mod days are now done and i am happy with the car :)

I've been modding for 50 years. My first new bicycle, a 19" frame, green CCM with white fenders, got streamers on the handle bars and clothes-pins and hockey cards on the spokes the day the trainer wheels came off. Bikes, cars, boats... it doesn't matter. If I own them, I like to make them uniquely mine, and make them perform and look better. I just mod 'cause I like to put a little of my soul into inanimate objects that gives them a personal touch.

Because life sucks and its the only thing that really makes me happy. Also b/c I can only afford this common car jus like everyone else out there, I want to be different from everyone else.
