You have to take it to the dealership and have them program the computer to the car.

You also posted this in the wrong section, but I've moved it.

why do you think you need to replace the computer? what is the problem? 99% of the time, it is something else and not the computer, which ends up wasting the owner's money

the module has to be installed in the car before it can be programmed
I ask again, WHY do you need to replace it?

To OP, what do you need the serial number for? I am also having some trouble understanding what it is you are trying to explain what your problem is.
The cars computer sits next to the battery under the hood. On the computer itself their should be a label of part number serial number etc etc Sometimes it is engraved in to the case of the computer. However if you need it programmed to the car you will need to take the car to a mazda dealer with your current computer so they can extract info out of that computer and input it in the new computer. Someone correct me if i am wrong

the module is the BOX... I presume english is your second language?
the "AT" light is an indicator of a problem, but it does not mean the computer is bad... and being that your car only moves on 2nd and 3rd gear, it is sounding like you have a problem with the transmission, NOT the computer... only dumb mechanics who know nothing about automotive electrical and electronics blame computers... the "AT" light and the "Engine" light both indicate there are error codes in the computer... the lights alone don't tell you what the specific problems are... you need to retrieve the codes, then perform troubleshooting based on those codes
you only condemn the computer after ALL efforts troubleshooting has been exhausted... that means checking wires, checking sensors/switches, checking transmission line pressures, etc

I really shouldn't be telling you this as your mechanic should know how to do this already... clearly he's not, so I suggest you find someone else

I don’t know all nuances of this procedure. In my understanding, the serial number must be obtained automatically by tool your programmer use, as well as outcode. The difference is that the outcode is changing every time when you initialize the access to security functions. Then, by special software is calculated the incode, or incode can be requested from web. If programmer can’t read the serial number ,maybe he has a wrong tool?

there's no security lockouts for module programming, except for programming keys
the thing he needs is as-built data, which is only available from mazda... no one can help him with that, and he shouldn't even need that as it's clear to me his car has been improperly diagnosed

I’m agreed with The Man here. It’s a very strange repair, changed engine, now PCM, what next? … car? Seems to me you was drawn into all these troubles by irresponsible diagnosis. Now, I think , the programmer is trying to program the keys for immobilizer by universal tool that shouldn’t work before instrument cluster have learned the new PCM module. To accept the new PCM by instrument cluster he must use a genuine mazda tool. These are not facts , just my thought.

no, those are facts... a ford or mazda tool must be used to program these things
