View Full Version : Freezing windshield on the inside
I have a 2010 GX Sport.
The windshield is freezing a lot on the inside just like on the outside. The car is left outside overnight with the temp around -10 to -15, and the morning it will take 10minutes with the defrost on to clear this ice.
I hear that the problem is with condensation, but there is very little to no water/moisture in the car. The most is a few drops of water on my winter floormats; the carpet is dry.
Does anyone else have this problem?
How do I fix it so it doesn't freeze on the inside?
My wife had an 05 MZ3 sedan which also had this problem.
This is pretty common ... Your body heat and cold car can cause this... Moisture in the car can cause it... Do you have the car in defrost??
This freezing only happens overnight. I come home from work, leave the car at defrost position, sleep. Car sits for about 12hrs, and theres a fine layer of ice on the inside. I turn the car on, and turn on the defrost, takes about 5-10mins on full blast for the ice to start melting to where i can drive safely...

try applying some toothpaste on it , then wipe it off, toothpaste prevents it from fogging up, maybe that will help preventing it from freezing since it keep the moisture off the wind shield?
not 100% sure if that works, but try it on a small area first and see if it works?

I had this issue with my last car. There's just exessive water vapour inside your car. Try turning on your a/c and recirculating the air every time you turn on the heat for the next little while until you notice the freezing stops. Worked for me.

This happens to me all the time. I just use a credit card to scrape it off. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but it works.
It’s a temporary apparition while weather is changing. Let see what happens when you close the car. Windows are cooling first and all moisture is being condensed on the windshield. There is a simple solution. Open all doors for 20-40 seconds before you close the car to cool down the interior. Never had seen that someone did it , but it works for me.

I would look for water leaking into the car some were, my car stand's outside every day and never have the window's frozen up (breathing causing it to fog is not the same thing), When my sunroof leaked it caused this.

are you leaving open unfinished drinks in the car? I did that and it frosted my windows up pretty good on the inside. You cannot use recirc in the winter either as that will cause fogging
