I want to upgrade my trunk release so that I can open it from my remote instead of having to open the car and pop the trunk.
It doesn't have to open up all the way on it's own like some do now, just being able to pop it open by pressing the trunk release button on my remote is fine.
Does anyone know if this is even possible on an 04 GT?

This is possible with an aftermarket alarm.

How would this be accomplished....I have a 2005 mazda3 and it already has an alarm on it with a button for trunk release...however it does not work.....I am assuming something must have to be installed in the car to make this work?

I'm interested too as currently when I open the trunk from the inside the lid pops only about 2cm - hard to get your fingers in there to lift it up. Can something be replaced/tuned to change this?

You need to buy a trunk popper. Eqlso had one. I believe Lockdown Security installed it for him.

Haha wow, I'm surprised you remember I have one! Lockdown installed it. Installing it shouldn't be that difficult. Its more about how to activate it; the aftermarket alarms can trigger it, but I'm not sure how it would work with an OEM remote.

I did it with an OEM trunk lock mechanism. Do a search of the site and you will find some posts on it..............
