View Full Version : What Colour Temperature HID Bulb Are You Using?

Hello All,
I have installed my HID kits for both fogs and Low Beam. Just wondering what colour temperature everyone is using. I currently have 8000K in my fogs and low beam. I just got some 4300K for the low beam as the 8000K were a bit too blue for me. I tried the 4300K and they are not exactly what I am looking for.
I think more of a balance between the whiter light / blue light would suit me. Should I be looking at 6000K?
What does everyone else use for low beam and fogs? Pics would be appreciated if you have them. Thanks.

6000K is almost a pure white with just a touch of blue, but the blue is mostly just noticeable when the HID's are just turned on and heating up. It will also give you better light output and distance than the 8000K.
Go 3000K for the fogs. The colour output is almost pure yellow and a nice contrast with the main lights. Also more functional in fog conditions.

I use 10000k for my lowbeams.
Wish I had foglights installed on my car. If I did, I'd probably keep them the same color as my lowbeams too.

4300 K fogs, 4500 K low beams, 3000 K high beams.
I had 3000 K in the fog lights for a while but one bulb burned out so I put the 4300s back in. I really should exchange them before the warranty runs out.

running both 6000k... use to have 3000k fogs. Going from 5000k to 6000k there is quite a bit of a drop in brightness. I have been thinking of switching back since it's only 'okay' for driving outside of the city.

This may be true, but 6k and even 8k are better than stock halogens if you ask me

was on..
6k low 6k fogs, white on white can get boring after awhile
then tried 8k low 6k fogs, not bad but light output wasn't the best on lows.
now
6k low 3k fogs, overall i'm satisfied with this setup

Thanks Steven, Phil and Souls for the pictures. I think I am leaning towards 3000K for my fogs. Lows, I was using 8000K but found them a bit too blue (not a lot of light output). Now I have 4300K in the lows. They have a hint of yellow in them. They remind me of the Halogen setup I had before. I might try the 6000K in the lows and see how that goes. At this rate, I will have bulbs for all occassions / weather conditions! :chuckle

yeah im starting to regret 6000k as well (not as good as 4300k output) and will probably try 5000k for my next setup. I wish they made 5500k which is the same colour as Audi DRL leds.

how do the fogs look? ive got the same setup but without the yellow bulbs. I was thinking about picking up a set from nextmod.
Anyone know what the stock HID temp is for 2008 models?

4300K I believe. That is the standard OEM temp.

They're pretty good. It's quite yellow since I have both the film and yellow bulbs, but in the end the light output alright, but obviously not great as HIDs.

55w 5000k looks OH SO SECHSY on the 6 (stock halogen projectors) and on the Civic (Morimotto H1 projectors).
From afar, when only the two little dots of light are visible, both cars can be easily mistaken as a luxury car. Not blue like ricers, but very close to the color temperatures (due to the projector and lens respectively) to P-cars and Range Rovers--with the exact color flicker when moving.

This is the purple one right?? I think Prey11 is using them (based on the pictures).. I've seen an Accord with the lights on low beams.. I would think it should be ok... As long as the projectors are not pointed directly to the driver's eyes.. :)
I personally have 6000K on my low beams and I think they're enough if you want to have that luxury look and brightness.. :)
