Bought a used 07 MS3. Sales man was great. We worked out a price together, and expressed a need to make me happy. You know the deal. I told him that there was a small burn hole in the back seat, and that I'd like it fixed. He said no prob. Had the whole back seat re-upholstered, which made me very happy. So I got the car.
When I originally tested the car, it had some snow on it. And when I took delivery, it was dark. So when I washed it the following sunday, I saw a scratch on the front right fender, and it was pushed in just a C-hair just behind the light. Not an eye sore by any means, but still, I'm kinda anal about the way my vehicles look.
So I took it back 4 days later, and talked to the sales man, who was very apologetic, and said that he'd do something about it, but first he just wanted to talk to his manager. Well that ****ing ass hat came out and pretty much told me TOUGH SHIT, WE'VE GOT YOUR MONEY, NOW YOU CAN GO **** YOURSELF!
How they don't claim that their used cars are in new condition. Which is much to the contrary. That they don't put money into fixing things. used cars are "as is."
Then why did I get my seat fixed? Ohhhhhh ya. because I noticed it BEFORE I signed on the dotted line! Even if what the manager says is true, about no money in used cars blah blah blah (i have no idea how dealers make money, because they give everything away;), it may have been an investment to keep a young guy who has a lot of cars to buy in his life time. I wanted to smack the hair jell out of his tiny little head! One spike at a time! But I do love the car!

You know, I feel where you're coming from.

I just bought a GT Sedan from Scarboro Mazda. I noticed a couple little things wrong with it (driver's headrest was a little jiggly) and the plastic piece over the LCD was a little warped. They fixed all that before I picked it up, to my satisfaction.

After I picked it up and brought it home, I realized that the center console latch was broken, the passenger side air vent was a little messed up, the rear plate was screwed on crooked, and the front plate bracket was cracked. I called them up, they ordered me the parts to fix it, and I'm taking it in tomorrow to get it all fixed.

However, there's a tiny (pencil-eraser) sized dent in my trunklid, and given it's winter and the car's filthy 90% of the time, I'm sure there are a couple swirls and scratches in the car in other places. I'm not going to sweat on it, and I'll detail the crap out of it myself.

You have to remember it's a USED car. If it was "brand new", you'd be paying much more for it. As-is usually refers to safety/mechanical condition. There's a reason the concept of depreciation exists.

I agree 100%. However, it would of cost them almost nothing because they have a collision ctr right there. For them top take the fender off, and push the corner back out, and buff out the scratch would of been well worth keeping a customer happy. My brother in law is a manager at a gm dealer, and I've spent time there myself, and I've seen first hand how they handle situations like this. They fix the problem. It's not like we're talking about major body work here. All I'm saying is they could of dine more. Like they did for you. I'm sure that ordering, and placing the parts in your car would of cost them way more then to fix my little boo boo.

Kieswetter Mazda is horrible, sale's are a bunch of retard's, they treated me like crap and I was an EMPLOYEE!! All the manager's are a bunch of snob's that include's the owner's. Should have made a thread about the car in the first place I would have told you to run away from kieswetter haha

Interesting this is pretty distant from my experience with them. I got to Laurier and the closest major mazda dealer is Kieswetter. When I called about my car still being covered under rust warranty (mines an 05) they fixed it up no questions asked, did a great job, and detailed the car on top of it. However the one thing I do agree on was I went into the service center to get quotes about service pricing the one guy did treat me like crap. I imagine he just expected me to "not know what I was talking" in regards to my car, I actually was pretty pissed with how he handled me. After that I dealt strictly with the sales manager Dave, never had a problem since. Just my experience

Go to forbes. hahaha.. it's closer from WLU isn't it?
I think that's why ppl on the forum stress that you need to inspect the car when you pick it up... VERY THOROUGH INSPECTION.
If I sold a car.. and the guy came back 4 days later saying there's a scratch.. i would too be reluctant to fix it for him.

Yeah, Forbes is wayyyyy closer to WLU and UofW. They are great at forbes...I went to kieswetter for my first couple services when I moved to kitchener, realized they were bitchy idiots, and moved on to forbes who have been great.

Why? I didn't do it, and could prove I didn't. For one, there was no scuff on the tire, and there would have been, and for two, the scratch had touch-up in it. Why would I touch it up, rub most of it off, and then bring the car back to them?

They fixed it because they had a recall on the fenders.

I am not saying that you were treated right or wrong...

But on a used vehicle you can make any requests you want and as long as it is agreed upon by both you and the seller.. it should be done.. BEFORE/DURING the deal is being put together..

To ask for a paint repair to be done afterwards is unreasonable. Repairs like that cost money, and I can assure you that the back seat being replaced was costed to the deal.

You really should have asked them to wash the car and look closely at it before you signed.. or at least pick it up in the daytime so you can inspect it before you leave.

Best of luck.

That's exactly my point. It should of been negotiated in the price. But I didn't notice it. My bad for sure. But to say it cost money, though you are right, it would be a very very small amount, and as I stated earlier, the hundred or so dollars that rit would of cost them, has now multiplied in the form of lost future profit from future vehicle purposes by myself, and anyone else who asks me how my experience was there. And I didn't ask for paint repair. Just a buff job, and pull the fender out. Peanuts. Especially when they have a collision center on site. Like I said, they lost a lot more than than the cost of the.....repair??? I don't even like to call it that.

First off, I will say I completely understand your point, however you didn't check the car thoroughly before agreeing to the sale.

Quick question, had you had gone to pick up the car, and they told you that they found a few scratches on it while they were cleaning it, had them repaired and then insisted upon you paying an extra hundred dollars or so because of it.. would that be okay? Essentially you are asking the same thing, for them to repair something that they never agreed to.

Granted if they want your referral business and service they should do something, but you do have to see it from their prospective.
