I noticed this morning when i was driving to work that my steering wheel was shaking alot when i drive. It's very smooth when i brake, so i don't think it has anything to do with my brake system. Anyone might know what problem this may be? Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

snow in wheels... unbalanced wheels... or your power steering is having a heart attack and it will explode in like 5 hours 3mins and 34seconds.. zoom zoom

With the weather we have been having of late, it is probably just ice and frozen snow in the rim that is throwing it out of balance. Go take it through a car wash and this should get the ice and snow off. If it still shakes, then maybe you lost a weight and your tires are now truly out of balance and need adjusting. Most likely just ice and snow.

Like others said most likely snow in your rims... I just finished power washing all the snow out of my rims and now I got no vibration

Same happened to me snow in the wheel well was causing a vibration, I took an ice scraper and cleaned it all out from the inside wheel well then washed the rest out

News Flash!: There was a snow storm recently.

Since you have driven or parked in snow that had a depth of at least 1/4 the diameter of your wheels, you have accumilated ice on the inside lip of one of your wheels that is now throwing that particlar wheel out of balance. Simply investigate the inside of 'all' wheels and use a wooden paint stir-stick to remove the ice.

Trust me, 'cause I'm a country boy... I do it every week on both winter driven vehicles.

Cheers!

My mom decided to take my car to the shop last night and the mechanic rotated the four tires. When i got the car back today, the problem was fixed and i took it through a touchless car wash. Thanks everyone!

The rotation of tires probably just got rid of the built up snow but none the less good to know it's gone.

Heres another reason, and Glad that Jimmy from Street Performance pointed this out..

Did you notice and dripping in your driveway? have you replaced your number 3 engine mount?

If not, you may have a broken engine mount.

I was not aware of this until he inspected my car. After this was replaced, my steering wheel stopped shaking.

Hope this helps!

Another common cause of vibration is an out-of-round tire from sitting too long without moving. Typically goes away after driving for a while.

I find tire rotation CAN solve vibration problems, by putting bad tires/rims on opposite corners of the car, but it's not a good solution.
