hey
im might be purchasing some rims soon, but i need to make sure fitment is doable.
and if it would give me a flush/somewhat aggressive look
The rims are 18 x 8 +35
I plan on running 215/40/18 all around,
any thoughts?
(btw, im on skunk2 springs)
thanks

Looks like you'll be rubbing alot on that setup..

^^ if done right you should be fine and very flush.
edit: dave could answer this the best but i think that setup should be fine but you might need to run some more camber

"You can make that work but you will need to slightly pull the rears and get some camber up front if you want to completely avoid rubbing. I run 18x8 +40 w/ 225's daily and there's lots of room to push the envelope there, not even close to rubbing."

(size he was inquiring about was 225/45)
"I am bored and I think... this is quite accurate. I did it myself.
17x9 +40 front/+45 rear on 235/40 - perfect for more than 1.8" drop on the street. MUST rolled rear fenders. 235/45 works, too but it will rub from time to time through bumps even with rolled fenders. Keep in mind that this would probably work best on cars that have camber up front if you want to run wider than 235's.
18x9.5 +45 with 20mm spacers can clear strut, meaning +25, that's on 285/30/18 R-Comps. It'd require tons of fenders work to make it flush.
17x8.5 +38 is probably the lowest offset you want to run on a 8.5" wheel. +40 to +45 would be ideal for most.
For 8" wide wheels, you can go as low as +35 offset. Tire choice is up to you, anything wider than 7.5", I'd roll the fenders.
So... below would be the lowest offset you wanna get for the following sizes... it will be flush and won't poke.
7.5" +25
8" +35
8.5" +38
9" +42 (+40 pokes a bit, even with camber)"

It will be 10mm farther away from the inside of the vehicle.
You should *probably* also be ok.

The lower the offset the more the wheel will come out from the hub, so +35 will be 10mm further towards the fender than +45. stock on mazda3 is +52.5 on 16" wheels

That post from M3F is somewhat inaccurate. OP, you should read the entire thread (albeit about a million pages long now). That list has been disputed on M3F, but has never been updated. I run 17x7 +40 with 215 tires lowered 1.75". At extremes I rubbed the rear fenders. You are looking to run 1" wider, 5 mm more offset, and likely fatter tires. You will rub.

Yeah, there is no exact formula guys.... if you want to push it, you have to be willing to rub, pull fenders etc.
Jason's setup rubbed... but I drove lower, with the same specs, and didnt rub. A lot of it has to do with tire selection as well. Not all 215s for example are the exact same width. When your only 1-2mm away from the fender, this can be the deciding factor.

Thanu - are your fenders rolled?

I should add that I'm running -1.0* camber in the rear.

That's weird because I run 17x7 215 et 38 and have never rubbed.
Edit: Also Thanu is not planning to run wider tires.
Edit 2: I think I have more than 1 degree rear camber maybe that's it.

225 is the recommended min width for an 8" wide rim. Unless you are going for the hellaflush look or whatever it's called.

It's the camber. At -1.5* I didn't rub.
