I only have 4 non-bose speakers and i wana know how i can get the 2 tweeters oem or otherwise i have no amp, do i need one. i heard its not required in the mazda 3 unless im installing a sub woofer
There is pretty big number of twitters sold separately. Many of them have a one way crossover.
The connection of this crossover in parallel to the existing speaker isn’t a good thing. First of all
the resistance at high frequencies will be 2Ohm, that’s dangerous for head unit. Secondly, the head unit uses these intervals, when there are only high frequencies, to charge the boost capacitor. With the 2ohm load this capacitor will be charging less efficiently, in result a bigger distortions at low frequencies. And third thing, main speaker will continue to play in high range and will create a low staging.
The solution is, to set a two-way crossover and use the stock speaker as a mid-woofer.
Can’t say for those plastic speakers with small magnet but late metal speaker has a very decent acoustical characteristics to be used as a mid-woofer. Twitter you can choose for your taste.
Soft dome - silk and textile gives a soft highs. Not all like it and prefer titanium or aluminum twitters. Most like your choice will be a relatively cheap twitter no bigger then 1”.
For this twitter you will need in crossover with 3600-3900 Hz crossover point.

I also have the basic speakers in a 2007 and would like to upgrade. I typically listen to the radio or play music through an ipod. I'm not an audiophile and don't need it too loud, but I spend a lot of time in my car and I like good natural sound. Sorry to be a n00b, but questions:
1) I like having tweeters higher up in the car (from experience with other cars). Is it possible to buy the "sails" to contain them?
2) If so, I gather from sas that I need a 2-way crossover (whatever that may be).
3) Would it make sense to have bass speakers in the back doors, midrange in the front doors, plus tweeters in the sails?
4) If I did 3) would I need more crossovers? Or would I have to think about the total resistance of the system?
5) Does anyone sell the whole lot in a kit, like "Mazda3 ICE upgrade kit".
I forgot to mention that the twitter with a separate filter will have a different phase with non filtered stock speaker. That ,also, isn’t good in high sense of car sound.
Exist twitters mounted on the stand but I don’t like how it looks. There will be much less of work and easier to rewire if twitter is inserted into plastic cower behind mirror.
There are special speakers for upgrade the stock speaker but all of them are quite crappy
in comparison with components of leading car sound brands. I don’t see a reason why to buy them if you can install an adapter plate and decent driver.
If you want to save some money, you can keep the stock speaker and use it as a mid –woofer. The resonant frequency of the stock speaker is 72Hertz , same as most of 6.5 “
Hertzs,Focals,Morrels. The only bad thing is that the RMS power is only 25Watt.
I believe that your local shop has separately sold crossovers.
If not I’d recommend this one for titanium twitter

Or these for 1” soft dome twitter

Oh , and third point has no sense , the rear door speakers serve as a sound support for passengers and partially for surrounding sound. The rear door can’t be used for bass drivers.

Does the GS Model have the wiring already in place to drop in a factory OEM tweeter?
