Hey guys, I have a problem here and hopefully someone can help me out.
So this is what happened.
I bought a wheel stand from Fanatec online on December 16th 2010 with paypal. They were on backordered of this item so they couldn't ship it out right away. So I waited and finally they sent me an email that its shipped out on January 24th, so i'm happy and thinking it will arrive soon since they said on the email that it may take "up to" 1 week. Its not February 7th and i still haven't received anything yet so I went to there website and check back my account. On my account status it says its already delivered. I checked back my email, and see that they didn't give me a tracking number so i can't check whats happening with my package.
What can i do here?
I asked a friend to see if its possible to file a claim with paypal for my money back, but he told me that its only within 30 days of purchse of payment which was back in December. So am I out of luck?
I contacted the place through email and haven't got word back from them yet. I will call them tomorrow to see if i can get something back from them.
On their website, it says they use UPS but i have no tracking number so i have no way to check anything.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Just a little heads up with UPS delivery...if no one is home they leave the package at your front door!
In any case, your best bet is to get the tracking number
I would try to file a claim with PayPal. Even though it says within 30 days of purchase, there's no way you could've known you will no receive the product. I think they would give you a break.

Hopefully this works out in your favour.
They do have apolicy that allows them to leave certain things on peoples door steps if no one is home, (like my wife's ever growing shoe collection) so maybe they did that, closed off your account to show delivered, and someone came by and hawked it.
Too bad you didn't get the tracking number mind you it wouldn't really matter anyway if your account is in delivered status on the end.
good luck man,

Recheck the paypal policy: I swear its 45 days after the date of purchase for you to start a dispute.
If you're still in the clear, then start a dispute asap, 'just in case'. Its a stressful ordeal, but you'll be taken care of--generally.

Seeing that the company is based in the US and that its being shipped UPS, be prepared to wait at least 10 working days for it to arrive.

30 days for paypal dispute, and paypal dispute shouldnt be the first thing you do people. Contact fanatec first, if what they say is not reasonable then paypal dispute. But if they did in fact ship it, there should be a tracking number.

You should have just purchased it through Nextmod, but avoid that Kevin guy as he tries to charge you too much for mudflaps. :)
In seriousness, contact the seller and let them know status and try to get more info on tracking from them. If necessary, open a dispute just to cover yourself, but be warned that if they shipped standard UPS, that is not the same as UPS courier service. It just stands for United States Postal service and it can take 2-3 weeks to ship to you. Even longer if it is pulled aside by customs. You also cannot track a parcel sent to Canada via the United States Postal Service Website.
Good luck Kevin. I'm sure it will arrive soon.

As others have said, first contact the seller, ask them for a tracking number.
Second, if they don't cooperate within 1-2 days, open a claim with Paypal.
Third, if you funded the paypal transaction with your Credit Card, dispute the charge with your Credit Card company.
its 45 days with paypal
and 90 if you used your credit card with paypal

If you don't pay for the "signature required", yes, they'll leave it on the doorstep.

I have contacted the seller and he did give me a tracking number today. What happened was they said my address was incorrect. I have doubled checked the address and nothing is wrong. Called them and they said the package is being sent back to them. I emailed them again and see if they can send it back out. But i think i'll get hit with shipping charge again. But hopefuly that will not be the case as they made the mistake not me.
thanks everyone for the help. I'll keep you guys updated weather i have to pay for anything or not.

Good to see at least the seller is kinda communicating with you. I was going to suggest breakin' some knees, but this works too :chuckle

For the record, this 'standard UPS' you speak of is called USPS. Just to clarify so that we don't get people confused as UPS has their own 'standard/basic' services. USPS is the US equivalent of Canada Post. UPS is similar to FedEx.
Glad to hear you've got it sorted out!

Since I'm in the business, take care of your delivery guy, it makes a difference. Incorrect and incomplete addresses are a pain to deal with so most just get RTS'd(return to sender). If you make a good impression for your delivery guy to remember you, more often you'll get your item/mail even when errors occur as they'll remember you.
FYI. I RTS on upwards of 100 items a day due to incomplete addresses. With so many names on my route, there are only so many I can remember.

So i called in to Canada post and they told me the address was wrong but i rechecked everything on my account and the address is correct. I tried to contact the seller through email lately and no replies for a few days now. Going to give them a call today when i have time to see if they will pick up the phone.
