New to forum.

I have an 07 Mazda3

When the heater fan is set to high, it makes a loud noise.

Dealer says it is dirt in the fan, a common problem.

They want $300 to remove and clean it.

Does this seem reasonable, and is it something I can fix myself?

Thanks!

wow 300 is a lotta dough to clean a fan, can you describe the noise? it might be the actual fan failing.

i have a 2010, when the fan is at 1 or 2, there is hardly any noise (good), at 3 it is loud and at 4 as if am in a wind tunnel...very loud.

I assumed all this while that is normal....or is not???

It could help us more to diagnose the problem even further if you could describe the noise/sound that the heater makes at 3-4 setting.

I also own a 2007 MZ3 GX, and other than the fan being loud because it is working harder at setting dials of 3 or 4, it's normal.

Try to describe the sound, or record it (if it's possible)
