I'm currently shopping for my summer set up. Winter should be done for by mid-March or earlier. My car's currently stock, so I'm pretty stoked.
On a tight budget, I'm looking for 17"s that are preferably 17lbs. Gun-metal multi-spoke design, kinda like this:

Any recommendations? I'll keep my eye on the classifieds in the meantime.

both of those wheels look really good on mazda3's.
sticking with replicas is a good choice, and Allen at Simply Tire should have some really good deals going on very soon if you decide to go new.
you should be able to get wheels and tires, along with balance and installation for around $1000, if not less
try to go for as light as you can, as it will definetly help your fuel economy, and make the car feel more peppy.

Off the top of my head, Konig Feather's 17" multi-spoke in 8 or 10 spoke designs are about 16.4lbs I think. It's also not too pricey compared to other rims. I don't know if there's a gunmetal (1010tires only has silver, matte black, and gloss black). Check it out: http://www.1010tires.com/wheel.asp?wheelbrand=Konig&wheelmodel=Feather+-+Matte+Black
Finding new rims that are rather inexpensive + lightweight is rather hard so definitely check out used if you don't mind. Good luck finding a nice set of rims!

Nice, that's a good price! That doesn't include tires right?

No, just rims.
I had tires laying around that I used, and I installed them myself at work.

Thanks for the tips. Those Konigs look perfect, but I wanna come in at under $1000 rim and tire.

that should be pretty do-able.
simply tire has 18's for around $700 or so. 17's should be cheaper, as are the tires

Holy shit...someone beat me to this:

Fack. The ones I've always wanted. I always search for "Miata" and "MX-5", so I would have never found these. Damn. Alright, who is the lucky SOB here who got them? :rant I called the guy, and he said someone with a Mazda3 picked them up.
Anyway, here's what Konig Feathers gonna look like on my car:

I used Enkei Tuning Fujin instead, but they look similiar enough. Hmm...I like it.

Lol woah did you photoshop/edit the pic? The cars on Tirerack have huge wheel gaps so it looks like you lowered it :P
Back on topic, ya the Fujin's are nice. I wanted them but I found a good deal on rims elsewhere. Interestingly the 18" are only 18.8lbs compared to the 17"s 16.4lbs. Even after considering rotational weight gains and all that's still great for an 18" rim, which I'd definitely choose in a heartbeat.

rim recommendation pls..the best that will suit on my 2006 MZ3 GT Hatch color :29Y
You and I have very similar taste. The first rim you've posted is exactly what I'm going for and if you're referring to the 06/07 five spoke Miata rim in your other post, then we're both after the same rims! I'm on an even tighter budget. I really want 18'', but can't afford to tires on top of the rims right now. What are the specs for the first rim you posted?

The first rim is Rota Torque. 17"x8", 48+ offset. Weighs kinda on the heavy side at 19.5 lbs. Comes in 5x114.3, so it will fit your car.
And don't get 18s, they are heavy and make your car drive like crap, especially if you're not prepared to spend big bucks. Get a 17" rim with spokes that go all the way to the edge, they look bigger that way.

Thanks for the info. Seems like these 8" wide wheels won't fit my 205/50R17 tires huh? It'll probably be stretching it a bit to much. I think they can take up to 7.5" wide wheels. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I see what you mean by heavier wheels on our cars. Can you give me an example of 17" wheels that go all the way to the edge, so that I can get a sense of the difference.

Those Miata rims in that ad are a good example.
Check out the Drag wheels in the sponsor section of GB Tires. I'm in the same situation as you guys as I'm not looking to lower my car right now and probably looking to remount my 205/50/17 tires as well, i've already inquired via PM
One of the models there looks similar to what you posted in the OP.

They look sweet, but they are a bit on the heavier side - 17" are 21.00 lbs and 18" are 22.45 lbs. G-daddy, how much do the Rota's weigh in 17"?

you'll need different tires tho. 245/40R17 are too wide/not tall enough.

TE-37'S volk... The hottest rims for any type of car in my opinion. Just a matter of picking the right rubber and colour.
