Already back from Jimmy's. Man he's a lifesaver.

Pulled a P2187. I haven't change my intake filter in a while so he MAF/TB could be dirty. If it's not that probably the purge valve solenoid.

Yep I got this a few times as well, turns out it's the purge valve. Mazda3's are notorious for these things getting clogged apparently, they ran a test on my car this weekend and my fuel was running really rich (which explains my horrible gas mileage). Got it replaced the other day (came out to $115 approx), I'm gonna fill up tomorrow and see if that helped anything, so far no CEL :)

Yeah I have a feeling it's going to be the purge valve too. Well if it's only $100 that's not too bad. I have been getting terrible gas mileage too. Down almost 100-150km per tank from the summer. I know there are winter factors that affect the mileage but maybe that is affecting it.

$100 isn't too bad. I would rather put it elsewhere but if it needs to be done I will get 'er done.

yeah I was getting under 400k/tank for the last couple of months. This is my third winter and it's never been this bad.

$115 was from our super awesome dealer in QC so depending on how super awesome your fancy TO dealers are, hopefully you can get a sweet deal cuz they usually go for about $150 roughly ;)

I had the same code pulled and replaced the purge control valve but the problem persists. Rough idle and shutting down in reverse when cold. Maybe I will try cleaning the MAF and Throttle body.

Good Luck. Dont know how the other people got away with $100 repair as the OEM valve costs about $150 alone unless they just cleaned the vacuum lines or used aftermarket valve.

Some people have managed to buy the replacement part online for just under $100 and installed it themselves. The average is around $130 for the part with possible dealer discounts.

I don't have any startup issues yet, *knock on wood* so I will start by cleaning the MAF and go from there. Need to replace my air filter as well.

Out of warranty unfortunately. Still cheaper for me not to have got the extended warranty *knock on wood again*. :)

well went out looking to clean the MAF and came across this. I have a engine mount knocking and I guess the streess or movement of the engine help cause this.

Guess I have to replace the cold air tubing as its busted on the bottom mount as well. MAF can't be working to well with extra holes after the pick off for sure.
