Hey guys,

My next project on my car is installing my audio system. I've searched for a way to run the power cable without any luck. I have a 2010 Mazda 3 GS.

I've seen threads where they do it through the clutch hole, but I drive standard so that doesn't help. I also tried through the rubber grommet behind the glovebox, however, I cant seem to find it. Mine seems to be patched with metal where the grommet looks like it would be. I found another tread where he did it through the steering column grommet, but that was on a Speed3, so I dunno if it would be the same way, plus it didn't really explain how he did it.

I want to avoid drilling through the firewall because I dont have the right tools, and I don't think I trust myself doing that.

Do you have an auto or a manual transmission?

I ran mine through the rubber grommet into the glovebox. I'm sure your's is not welded up, you just haven't found it yet.

I have a manual. I'll try looking again. I was trying to find it from the engine bay without any luck. Maybe I'll try removing the glovebox and see what I find.
However, I know I'm not the only one that would have it sealed up. As per http://mazda3revolution.com/forums/2010-mazda-3-audio-electronics/1899-pics-my-audio-install.html

So I removed the glovebox today. That grommet behind the glovebox has definitely been patched up.
What other routes besides the clutch hole can I take?

that sucks, I ran 4awg thru the grommet in the glovebox and it was a tight squeeze let me tell you. you may have to drill through the firewall yourself

i had mine run under the driver side right below the trunk and gas open, up through the grommet for the steering column. so far no problems to date.

I just routed my power cable this weekend. My car is also manual.

There is a white plug in the fire wall just left of the battery and about half a foot down from the hood which leads behind the gas pedal.
I popped it out and ran my 4 awg right through with a gromet so it will not shred the cable.
The hole is a rectangle but its perfect.
I still have a small bit to seal up with some silicone but i will take care of that when it warms up.

Hey Taft,
Thanks for the feedback. I ended up running the cable through the hood latch cable. I wasn't able to put the grommet back on so its not really plugged up right now.

Your area seems good. How did you get the white plug out? Did you push it from the inside out? And how did you put it back on?
