I searched and nothing came up.. I have finally decided I am going to purchase a 3 at the end of summer. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. When I was test driving a 3 I was wearing polarized sunglasses and found reading the speedometer very hard?
Are there any aftermarket gauges that might rectify this issue?

there are many dimming options so maybe you didn't have them set right, ive never had this problem.

not really any aftermarket ones as far as i know and i wouldnt do it.
also what brand polarized lenses are they? i have oakleys and have never had issues with that. but ive heard many of the pilots ive worked with have issues in the airplanes and i never did so im guessing it was the way the company made the polarization.

They are Ray Bans. I know there 2 different types of polarization. Circular and horizontal. I've heard that one of the types can cause issues for digital gauges like on motorycles. I have a pair of Ryders that are polarized. I'll have to test them out again with both pairs and make sure the lights are on max.

When I was an optical technician, we weren't allowed to sell polarized glasses (prescription or not) to pilots, ship captains, and truck drivers. This is because the polarization definitely hinders ability to read gauges.
That being said, I've been driving with my Dolce & Gabbana polarized aviators for the last couple years and haven't had any issues in any vehicles.

I have had this happen with the LCD only. RayBan P.

are they prescription or regular plano?
I have prescription lenses (they're nikon's) and haven't had any issues really. If I'm sitting in traffic and tilt my head (resting it on my hand) they tend to dim a bit, but I'd have to twist to a full 90deg in order for them to black out.
Could also depend on how well the lenses were edged. If the lens center line is off, it'd mess things up a bit. Overall though I think the car companies have gotten better about this. Adjusting the lcd's to be less of a problem for polarized sunglasses.
My parents focus ('07) is horrible, the ODO is almost impossible to read. Not that it 'really' matters.
